Guest guest
Kathy, I can relate to your issue completely. My daughter is ADD/OCD and we have had similar med issues recently. In August she switched from lexapro to zoloft. And right before school we added adderall to the mix. At first it was incredible. She could concentrate, she was happy, less compulsive, etc....All good. We usually didn't give it on the weekends. But after 3 weeks or so, we saw her compulsiveness rising. Also she was agitated and mean, and didn't show much remorse. One day I got a call from school, all the teachers had a terrible time with her. She would refuse to do work, and basically do the opposite of what they said. The next day I didn't give the adderall, and it was a better day. In the meantime, we raised the zoloft a bit, more initial side effects, etc... We are constantly considering seroquel or risperdal. We recently changed doctors and she is good but I am not happy with the fact that she changes more than one med at a time. Then you never really know what side effect is from what. It sounds like you are dealing with similar issues. I think you did the right thing to not give her the adderall and see what happens. Our first doctor always said to take care of the OCD first, and when that is under control, you can work on the ADD. How old is your daughter? I think it is better to change one medicine at a time. That is one thing I have learned. How did the day go without the adderall? Good luck. Ellen
