Guest guest
My son and daughter were both sick yesterday. My son feels a lot better but my daughter is still not too good. Matter of factg we are waiting in the urgent care to be seen. She has flu like symptoms with fever. The fever wasnt too high only 100,8 was the highest today. The medical assistant said not too take a chance and to go to the urgent care. So here we sit praying that it isnt the swine flu.

Guest guest
Lois & Pat, She was positive for Swine Flu. They gave her Tamiflu and she is off for a week of school. So far Gabe is still okay. He is staying next door at my MIL. However, I can't next door because I've been caring for Berta directly for 2 days. My Inlaws and I are afraid that I may be next to catch it. My FIL is already having breathing problems without complications. I'm trying not to get into this Media frenzy, but I just don't know how contagious it is. Thanks for your prayers and encouraging words. Re: My daughter is sick , I hope she is doing ok. Guest guest
You live next door to your inlaws? It sounds like you have a good relationship. That is so nice for the kids. Hopefully you won't get it. Do you have a good immune system? Love and blessings, Pat K Re: My daughter is sick , I hope she is doing ok. Guest guest
Pat, My inlaws are great. No hesistation with taking in Gabe for a week. I'll miss the heck out of him, but it's for the best safety of everybody. Myself, I have asthma but I work in a nursing home. I've only had one head cold this year, so knock on wood that I don't get it. Re: My daughter is sick , I hope she is doing ok. Guest guest
Hi , had the H1N1 flu (at least that's what they said it was, they never tested the strain) back at the end of June. He ran a fever between 100 and 103. He had a cough as well and that was all. We were lucky that he had a mild case. I never caught it, and neither did our roommate, so I'm not too sure on how contagious it is. I think following all of the common sense steps that their telling us was a big help for me not getting it. I also suck on vitamin c drops. They are like cough drops only without the " bite " . They help me with the " tickle " in my throat and help to keep me well. > > > Lois & Pat, > > She was positive for Swine Flu. They gave her Tamiflu and she is off for a week of school. Guest guest
, Thank you for your encouraging words. It does scare me. Like I mentioned I'm asthmatic, my son besides the asd is asthmatic and my husband is diabetic. Anyway, we bought lysol, sanitizing wipes, and purell for basic housekeeping things. I've been checking her fever throughout the night. I just bought 3 days ago the thermometer that you use on the forehead instead of the ear. I love that kind so much better. I took her temp and she never woke. Anyway, her temp has been in the 98 area all night so maybe the tamiflu is working. How long was out of school? They told us a week I guess to be safe. Thanks again. I knew I could count of this group for support. It's funny, at my job I can take a step back and remain calm. But of course when it comes to my daughter, ummm, no so much..LOL Re: My daughter is sick > > > > > > > > > > , > > I hope she is doing ok. Guest guest
Hi , I have COPD, Emphysma and asthma both, so lots of lung issues. I suck on the vitamin c drops, store brand cause I'm cheap, and wipe everything down with the Lysol wipes, wash hands all the time, etc. I also don't believe all the hype that the media is putting out. I think if you use common sense with anything you pretty much end up OK. That and a lot of prayers. > > > > > > Lois & Pat, > > > > She was positive for Swine Flu. Guest guest
Hi Lois, (((((HUGS))))))) Great big hugs to you. Yes, I do smoke. I've been smoking for almost 41 years. I've quit more times then I can count, but always go back. Please don't ask me why, since I can't tell you. It is one of the most addictive things that you can do. I grew up in the 60s, so I've been there, done that. I could get rid of all that " junk " but can't seem to get rid of the " cigs " . I have taken Chantix, and that did seem to help with the smoking. I was able to quit for 3 months, but depression set in and back to smoking I went. I've learned that I can't take the " normal " dose of the Chantix, since it causes depression, so I am trying a half dose, since I can't afford the anti-depresent meds. It has enabled me to cut down from over a pack a day to a pack every couple of days. It is a work in progress. My Mother quit smoking the day the oxygen came into her house, and died because of it. I'm trying to quit before I get that far. I hope that my little novel has helped you to understand what DH is dealing with. It is not easy to quit. I am sending prayers your way (directed at DH) to try and help. > > , > do you smoke? My DH carries COPD and has to use his breathing machine thru out the day and his inheailer. Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for the hugs. Those and prayers are what gets me through. Where do you work? Guest guest
, I work at the Veteran nursing home for the state of colorado. I believe it's 105 bed facility. Been there for 4 years now. I would have loved to work in recreation dept, but I like working nights plus it works best for my kids. Especially if gabe has a meltdown at school I can be there fast. Guest guest
I loose track of how many times a night I wash my hands, LOL Actually I work with a few CNA that don't use gloves when checking the residents to see if they are soiled. Kinda gross and hazardous. The vitamin C, I took mine tonight. Ironically the doctor put the rest of our family on Tamiflu since my daughter was a confirmed case of swine flu. Plus we all have chronic conditions too. But I will give the vets a hug for you.
