Guest guest
Hello KT Folks After 2 years of not brewing KT, I am thrilled to be back at it again. I adopted Baby Huey from Rae and he IS a fat, healthy SCOBY! He arrived here last Thursday, so this is day 6 and I started him in a 1 gallon glass jar with 1 black tea bag and 6 green tea bags and the appropriate ratio of water and sugar. There is a nice baby SCOBY forming and all appears to be healthy. How do you all feel about pH and the safety of KT? After 6 days, I did a pH meter reading and it was 6.8. I tasted it, but was a bit concerned to do more than a quick tasting because I read that in order to be safe, the pH should be 3.0ish. Am I being too paranoid or unrealistic to bother with doing this pH reading stuff? I borrowed the pH meter from work so I won't have access to one on a daily basis, although I could fork out 40 bucks for a meter if it's necessary. Thanks Bunches and thanks for still being here after all these years. This is a great group! Grapeview, WA USA
