Guest guest
, Hi, my name is and I have a 12 year old son named Ricky. I also have been considering placing my son in a residential treatment home. I even have the paper partly filled out. He was raging all the time up until recently. He spent most of September in a crisis center getting meds stabilized. He is currently taking Abilify 10mg, Lamictal 150mg, and Zoloft 12.5mg for now and will increase to 25mg. He seems to be better, except for being mouthy, bossy and disrespectful. He has not been physically violent lately. I have even filled out the paperwork for residential treatment, but never turned it in. I am not going to go through with it, unless he really hurts me bad or gets us evicted from our house. It is such a hard decision to put your child in the care of others. I have struggled with this and feel very guilty every time I have thought about it. I have felt like I have failed as a mother, which I know isn't true. I just wanted to share my story.

Guest guest
Sounds like you are doing everything that you can. I could never imagine having to face that decision. But sometimes Love, patience and trying everything just does not work. If this is something you decide to do. Do NOT think of yourself as a bad mother you are doing something, so very selfless by getting him the help that he needs. That is what makes a good mother! Sometimes those decisions are heartbreaking. Just know that by getting him the help he needs are being a WONDERFUL MOM!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Holly. Guest guest
I put my son Robbie in residential after deciding that it was best for him. He would hit and kick and put his arm around my neck. We almost got evicted because of all the noise he was making. Don't wait until he really hurts you. Send in that paperwork. There will probaly be a waiting list anyway. When you child starts hurting you, placement is the way to go. It is a hard decision but the right one.
