Hi,

I am just returning to brewing kombucha. I was wondering how long a

culture will live, without being fed more sugar and tea. I have a one

gallon jar with a sealing glass lid that has been sitting for about a

year and a half. The culture has pretty much filled the jar, but I

can't tell if it is still alive.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, Go and make a small batch brew with it!

I think, you should be pleasantly surprised.

A Kombucha culture is not a sturdy beast for nothing. ;-)

You will probably find that the first couple of brews may

take longer to get to reasonable acidity and may be lacking

taste. If you can summon the patience, your long neglected culture

should brew good KT for you once again.

Be sure to give us a feed back on your renewed Kombucha experience.

kombuchaly,

Margret:-) UK
