Guest guest
HI IThat would be advisable. Kombucha is Probiotics and contains beneficial LIVE organism and enzymes, easily destroyed by heat... as an example the SCOBY dies if you put it in hot water. I do not know about the acids and other minerals in the brew but I bet many of these are destroyed in the process as well.. Guest guest
check this out. http://www.dandyblend.com/ our family got started on this product a year ago or so. I am not selling it, just use it. Hot or cold. Was recomended by an alternative medical doctor. She recommends it daily, especially when you are detoxing. I, too, love a hot drink especially on a cool morning.... and I love Kombucha hot. The way I make it will not kill the beneficial ingredients. I warm a mug with boiling water and then pour the water away. Place a favourite herbal teabag (or not) in the hot mug. Add boiling water to fill the mug to half and then top with KT. That's it! You may grate some nutmeg over it or sprinkle some cinnamon on it, or even add a slice of ginger for extra warming. I find this MOST satisfying, and I hope you will. :-)) Blessings, Margret ( in the UK on a very cool morning after yesterday's torrential rains, depositing one month's rain in one day!) -- +------------------ Minstrel@... --------------------+ <)))<>< http://www.therpc.f9.co.uk <)))<>< http://www.AnswersInGenesis.com +----------------- http://www.Gotquestions.org ------------------+ " Never think that God's delays are God's denials. Guest guest
Hi While some or even most of the Kombucha components could be retainned with MArgret recipes, I am not sure it is advisable to subject the Kombucha culture to hot water, it will kill a good amount of the bacteria and other microrganism that are in the Kombucha brew. To understand how much the KT is a living entity, I do not mean the SCOBY; No! The KT that we drink everyday, Just do the following, leave some of this KT in a jar covered by just paper towel.. After a few weeks a nice SCOBY will usually form... It is even possible and I have tried to brew with no SCOBY, just with Acidic KT for starter and your egular Sweet tea... In conclusion, while KT may retain a lot of its good mineral, I would not recommend hot KT, The same advice would go for pasteurized KT... craftetcetera <craftetcetera@...> wrote: Thanks for the replies.
