cathy - i was told by a psychologist that (this is tru in NJ)

some mental health diagnosis are considered " biologically-based. "

the insurance companies won't tell you which ones.

but this therapist did tell us that OCD is one of them.

if a mental illness is biologically-based, then it has to by law

be covered the same way a " medical condition " is covered, because it

is a medical condition. what i did was to write a note to my insurer

asking that my daughter's therapy sessions be considered and

covered " with parity " (which means with equality) since OCD is known

to be biologically based. from that point on, her sessions were

covered the same as if she had had a broken leg or a case of mono.
