How do you deal with being out in public when your child makes noise, throws a

fit, or is otherwise innapropriate? My 11 year old son will roar at people, have

a fit and gets upset when others stare at us. Last weekend we were waiting at a

bus stop (we dont have a car) and someone had breadsticks from a pizza place and

ricky wanted some. He ran over to the people and tried to get one. The people

and others stared at us and when ricky had his fit, a woman called me ignorant

and said i should be able to control my child. I tried to explain autism and she

wouldn't listen. Just called me ignorant. All the while ricky is screamimg that

he hates her. I guess i cant go with him in public. I even read to him the

social story we wrote for being in public. Thanks.
