New medications - Zoloft and depakote for 9 year old

Hi again,

My nine year old daughter had a severe hypomania reaction to a low

dose of prozac and has been off all medication for 6 weeks now.

Our new psychiatrist has prescribed a low dose of both medications -

zoloft - 20 mg and depakote - 125 mg. We started the zoloft this

morning, and are waiting on blood test results before starting the

depakote. Even after talking to the doctor, I am still uneasy about

giving her the depakote. He is recommending the depakote to minimize

any behavioural side effects that the zoloft may cause.

Has anyone seen this combination of meds. She is suffering so - with

terrible intrusive thoughts - but I am just so uneasy. I feel like we

really don't have a choice.
