Guest guest
The Middle / High school librarian contacted me and asked for ideas on which books she should order for the coming year. She has the funds to order several books and is looking for ones that will help teachers when teaching students with autism and aspergers. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Those are great thanks. Sorry I forgot who would be reading the books. The books hopefully will be used by mainstream teachers. Lyn, you didn't specify if these will be used primarily by "mainstream" teachers, special ed, resource? I've given this one as a teacher gift in the past and it was very well received: Ten Things Your Student with Autism Wishes You Knew by Ellen Notbohm and Zysk I loved this book. While it's not intended for teachers, it provides great insight into the world of an adolescent with Asperger Syndrome (he also has a younger brother with autism and writes about him too). It would be a great book to have in the library for other students as well! Freaks, Geeks & Asperger Syndrome: A User Guide to Adolescence by Luke And finally, I've heard great things about this one but haven't read it myself: You're Going to Love This Kid!: Teaching Students With Autism in the Inclusive Classroom by a Kluth Love, Judy (mom to , age 12, NT, and Jake, age 10.5, ASD) www.bforbedlam. wordpress. com book recommendations? Guest guest
Hi, I LOVED THAT BOOK! I am an aide in a public school, my student was on the spectrum, I took out that book and the incident with the dog in the night as well as a large stack. Those two were the best for educators. I am friends with kerri bowers, the mom of a boy with aspbergers, and he did a movie, normal people scare me, I wish to god all people would see that. It gives such a persepective on how they see/view/feel/deal with the world. I can’t recommend it enough Join faces it is a support group, they can offer a load of book advice, you can find most of them via my facebook. Debra eccles byrne I will send them to you as friends if you’d like.
