Guest guest
Hi ! There might be ways for you to give your daugther medication without her knowing about it; at least until she is able to realize how much they would help her. Try asking your psychiatrist for a medication in liquid form or at least a tablet that could dissolve in a liquid. In my case we started with Risperdal, then we moved to zyprexa, Geodon and now we are using Abilify; just to let you know there are a few medications available that can be dissolved. The important thing would be finding the best for her situation and DX. For my son it was easier to give him a juice or milk than start an endless tantrum because of taking a med. As others have said antipsychotics increase the appetite way too much; it is likely to have a weight gain of ten pounds the first month. The need to eat or the hunger is sometimes uncontrollable, at first my son asked for food every two hours but with time and with the change of meds that decreased. Just research the meds and their side effects and with that go to a doctor to find a happy medium for you and your family. As for a dx I beleive that sometimes is better to work with the symtoms or problems instead with a dx. The voices have suddenly appear because of a traumatic experience at the hospital...They might be a way of coping with all the changes and could go away in a short period of time..Try the meds to stabilize her mood and then go from there, see how much you can accomplish. Hope it was of any help, God Bless!
