Guest guest
**Originally I sent this directly form my email but it seems to have gotten lost in the ether of which is the internet...so in case it happens to show up again, you know why.** So I want to know what you all think about using Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry for my brew? The box says 100% Natural Herb Tea and so far the taste is awesome and the scoby is growing well. I've read different variations of brews and when i can find the right " formula " for my taste and brew i want to start a continuous brew. I seem to have taken to the Kombucha easier than my husband. We have purchased the bottled GT to get used to the taste. Usually I would be the leary one and promptly hate anything healthy but for some reason KT has stuck the happy nerve...maybe its because now I feel like a mad scientist. Recently (the weekend before Christmas) diagnosed with diabetes and overweight issues (my fault since i make the most carb-laden, fatty filipino food) i am making a shift to a more healthful, more thoughtful diet. For me it tastes tart but it like wakes your mouth up with its tartness. I prefer a more sweet tea but does that take away from the probiotic, good-for-you aspect of the drink? I have 3 experimental brews going. One grown from bottle GT which is actually doing very well. It is growing a green spot but it doesn't have fuzz so I think its doing ok. As far as bottles go, I am trying to re-use the bottles from GT. Has anyone had any problems getting the label off and how you get them off? Guest guest
JoAnne, I am with you: I have been using pure blueberry tea with my black oolong and rooibus tea to make KT for months, and when I don't have any and leave it out, we notice the difference (big time). And I am now doing a continuous brew with my own combination of black oolong, rooibus, and blueberry teas. This latest batch, I had no blueberry tea so I used a pomegranate/green tea in place of the blueberry. Smelled good. We'll see. My SCOBYs seem to be thriving and taking over the house. It is very hard to get the labels off the GT bottles. My husband got them off of two bottles, but it took so long the effort, in my mind, wasn't worth it. I left the labels on, even if they were wrinkled and peeling a little. All I had to deal with was people thinking I was drinking KT. When I got the EX-Cap bottles (like groelsch bottles), I gave most of the GT bottles away, but I kept a half dozen to use when I want to take KT with me to a class of something. That way, people don't get overly curious: they see the labels and think it is just a store bought drink.
