Guest guest
Hi , I think humor REALLY helps with OCD if you can get your child to laugh about it. Can relieve the anxiety, the " weight " of dealing with OCD, make it seem less...despairing perhaps; like it's not the end of the world for them having this, etc. And hopefully help them be able to " boss back " a bit easier. As for my own son's OCD - it began at the beginning of 6th grade, a couple weeks after school began. I wondered about " new school " (middle school), new people, classes, etc. Had someone said something, threatened him, did he feel some burden, left out...oh, lots of thoughts/wonderings! But I also recall that this was the summer he also began to show a bit of temper, getting fed up with his brothers (who picked on him, made critical comments; thought they were " helping " him by *making* him come out & play basketball but critical while he was, etc.; plus was always " taking over " things for and had his own issues w/; lots of little stuff) - and he began showing a temper back at his brothers, I could see his frustration, he even would push back at if shoved, etc. ANYway, I was just glad he was finally taking up for himself a bit and his brothers complained I wasn't punishing/fussing at for " behavior " etc. Sooooo...I wondered if after school began that his OCD had somewhat been " building up " during the summer and at some point after school started, it just " appeared " ...I don't know. Oh - and I think some puberty/hormones was probably going on about this time too. He did have those minor OCD behaviors earlier on in life (reassurance questions, tracing over letters...) but nothing bothersome. Well, got to get to work! > Hi there, > I haven't been on in awhile as my daughters ocd is still there but it is minor. And of course I know that can change at any minute, Literally. > > But my question is, that I didn't ask before. Is some kids get it
