I have a read many references as to the cause of dowager's hump but have ignored

the info as I have never worried about that aspect. I have recently befriended

a lady who has started to show the effects of premature dowager's and thought I

would ask.

Best wishes and much love, Ken

Ken,

A lifetime of a negative calcium balance will do it. The body will pull

calcium out of the bones to buffer the blood to keep you alive.

Something called the " alkaline reserve " are minerals necessary to

maintain proper pH in the body. If this reserve is depleted then the

body has no choice but to rob to pay ........ie. to rob

calcium from the bones to maintain life sustaining pH. Your friends

skeletal structure has been slowly disappearing, shrinking, compressing,

becoming brittle and hollow all in the name of maintaining life in the

presence of sub optimal diet & lifestyle.............the American way.
