Maybe you need to go a lot slower on your intake...I can drink up to

4 (16oz) bottles of GTs and feel GREAT. Last night, I drank my first

16oz of my homebrew and it was yummy and it felt great. I had too

much sugar yesterday being Easter and I felt sick...after I drank my

KT, I felt MUCH, MUCH better but then I woke up today and also had

an 'upset stomach for about 3 hrs. I am going to reduce my intake

by half and see if that helps.

Steve, why not go back to the 6 or 7 day less acidic brew?

It could very well be that your digestion objects to the higher acidity.

That does sound serious!

It seems to me like a serious case of dehydration to me.

I don't think you are, Steve. I believe it is more a case of too much

acidic Kombucha too quickly and with not enough water.

My advice is: start drinking your KT slightly diluted with water and

maybe only half the quantity you drank before. Water intake is very

important! Minimum of same amount of extra water to amount of KT, but

twice the amount would be better.

If you had the KT on an empty stomach, try having it (smaller amount)

with a meal and see how you go.

Please share your experience with the list and how you doing.

We can all learn from your experience.

Speedy recovery!

Blessings,

Margret:-)

Steve,

Go see a doctor. Your symptoms sound pretty serious, they may be

unrelated to Kombucha, or the Kombucha might have somehow caused

an existing infection the flare up, or whatever. But it definitely

sounds like an infection, maybe in your stomach (ulcer?) or bladder.

These can be very dangerous. I'm not a big fan of doctors, but I

really think you need a medical opinion. Like, now. If you don't

have a regular doctor who can see you right away, go to the

emergency room of the nearest hospital.

I guess that is what I'll have to do, but probably after at least a

couple more days as the thought of taking ANY right now gives me the

shivers. I hav'nt been eating any junk food, just whole foods, but

maybe all the extra lacto- fermented beets, cabbage, kefir (which

are also extremely 'cleansing') was just too much?

That does sound like quite a bit. Maybe erring on the side of caution would be

a good way to start.

Your symptoms sounded a bit like food poisoning. Any possibility of that?

I had been drinking more water, as the Kombucha seemed to increase

my thirst. However, with all the diarrhea, loose stools, maybe I was

dehidrated as well. Is Kombucha a diuretic? I do usually feel a

slight burning sensation in my stomach after I drink it, but why

don't you think that I could be toxic as well? It felt similar to

when I first started 'juicing' although nowhere as intense. There

was also the 'prickly' feeling all over my skin, especially my

forehead, signifying a release of toxins...

I hav'nt had any Kombucha today and I feel slightly better, just a

headache, and a feeling of weakness, plus still many trips to the

bathroom.

I guess that is hard to say, although, I hav'nt eaten anything

unusual that I can think of. It really seems to start after drinking

the KT...

I'm not a big fan of doctors either. I do feel SOME relief today as

I and not blacking out or walking into the walls, furniture anymore

(that portion actually lasted about 20 mins). If I feel like that

again, I am definately taking a trip to the emergency room. Anything

short of that I will go to see a naturopath.

What makes you suggest an infection? Have you had these symptoms and

subsequent diagnosis?

no matter what natural therapy you use start with a tiny amount

Yes, Steve, as you are finding out, this seems to be a very strong detox

reaction aggravated by dehydration.

Yes, Kombucha is a strong diuretic!! Lots of water needs to be drink with

it to flush the poisons out properly through the urinary system, because if

they can't come out that way the toxins will cause disturbances in different

parts of your body, especially the digestive tract.

The reason why the longer brewed Kombucha may have been so much more active

was because of the greater acidity which is the 'main active principle'

in the tonic. In your case this will have been too strong too much too often.

It was wise to lay off the Kombucha a bit. When you feel ready to start

again take very small amounts with water. It seems to have been too acidic

on your stomach and there should not be a burning sensation. It would be much

better to dilute the KT with water or consume it with a meal. Be kind to

the linings of your stomach. :-)

All the best for your further Kombucha journey when the whistle blows

again ... ;-)

Blessings,

Margret:-)

Yes, kidney and bladder infections. Symptoms were frequent need

to urinate (painfully) and dizzyness and disequilibrium.

In general, many infections release toxins into your system that

can affect unrelated parts. " Detox " symptoms and symptoms of

acute infections can be very similar. Bladder infections can

be very dangerous, especially for men.

Your symptoms don't really sound like an ulcer, but that's

something I'm paranoid about because they are increasingly

common and a friend of mine just had his stomach removed after

it ruptured. You can live without a stomach, but it's no fun,

and it's be much harder to live a healthy life.
