Guest guest
Kathy Thanks very much for the suggestion ... I would indeed like to see pictures if it is not too much of a bother for you ... When I went to my local brew store to pick up swing top bottles the sales person suggested a hose and 'wand'for bottling. The wand has a device on the end that when pressed against the bottom of the bottle opens up the hose and the tea flows into the bottle. When the bottle is full all you have to do is release the pressure and the hose closes. It is very easy to use and I barely spill a drop. Just drop one end of the clear hose into the brew (I don't even remove my SCOBY anymore), give it a suck to start the tea flowing into the hose, (keep the end of the hose at counter height and pointing up to prevent the tea from flowing all over the place) attach the wand to the other end, place your bottle lower than the container (I put my bottles on the floor) insert the wand end into the bottle and press down. When the bottle is full release and go to the next one. I can't fill them all the way to the top with this method because the hose and wand do displace some of the liquid, but I can fill them within an inch of the top which is perfect for me. If I have a particularly fizzy brew it will sometimes bubble up I just wait for the bubbles to dissipate then top off. If you really want them filled to the very top (not necessary) you can use a small pitcher and/or a funnel to top off. I could take pictures if you would like to see the process, let me know.
