Yup, works now > Anyways, I was wondering how late is too late to eat at night. I've read about a dozen fitness articles on the subject and they all say that eating late at night is fine. Some even recommended grabbing something to eat in the middle of the night if/when you wake up to go to the bathroom. They say it doesn't make sense to feed your body on a 3 hour schedule during the day then go for 8-12 hours without anything. >Also now all my plans >got messed up about the times I can go work out and such, I was wondering if >it would be in my best interest to eat, workout and do all that on a set >schedule everyday. If you are doing the BFL way, it doesn't really matter what time you work out as long as you don't eat 2-3 hours before working out, if I understand the book correctly. I've had to adjust my schedule a great deal the last few weeks and have worked out in the morning, at noon, and after 5pm on various days. Doesn't seem to have negatively affected me. You should try to work out at the same time every day if possible, to give your body a full 24 hours to recover between sessions, but if you can't, you can't. Don't skip a day just because you couldn't go at the same time as the day before Tina

Anyways, I was wondering how late is too late to eat at night. the correct answer is that a meal will raise insulin levels, insulin is antagonistic to growth hormone. so you want to time your last meal such that insulin levels are back to normal before you start to sleep otherwise you will short change your nightly GH time. this means for a big meal at least 3 hours, for an average meal 2 hours and for a small meal maybe 1 hour before trying to sleep. Guest guest
So basically if I drink my shake 15 minutes before my head hits the pillow it is a bad thing? My shake consists of natural soy milk, whey protein powder and 3/4c of frozen strawberries (it balances out). Along with some supplements. So, does that mean if I hadn't done that I'd be 7' tall? Drinking milk probably had a lot less to do with your growth than your genetics. With my short parents, I doubt drinking 300 gallons of milk a day would have made me any taller than my current 5'1 " . Tina

Along with some supplements. its not a bad thing its just not optimal. just means you may be limiting the time over which your hyphothalamus releases growth hormone. while insulin is elevated growth hormone wont generally be released. once the insulin returns near base line GH will start to be released. to be optimal give the shake at least an hour maybe closer to two. the people that recommend midnight snacks are not concerned about GH. So, does that mean if I hadn't done that I'd be 7' tall? teenage GH release is very high but it rapidly declines after 20. by the time you are 40 you have maybe 30% of your youthful levels and by the time you are 60 you have maybe 10%. so I assume most people on the list are no longer teenagers and hence every bit counts. to answer your question its possible, I dont know about an extra 7 inches though, if you take large doses of supplementary GH you can continue to get random bone growth. Guest guest
Aaacckk! No more growth! I'm too tall already. The only benefit I had in gaining extra fat is that I could go to the store and find clothes. When I get to my BFL target, I'll be too tall for the pants at regular stores and too thin for pants at the big and tall men's stores. Guest guest
Thank you and , I am trying to stay calm, I just hung up from her Primary Care Physician and asked if they had any information, and explained my situation. Their response was to call her immunologist, as they do not get involved. The nurse cautioned me " Not to be on the offensive " . I told her I was not trying to be accusatory, but rather just trying to gain an understanding of what should happen. I live in Toledo Ohio, which is not a little small town. One would think our doctors would be up on this sort of thing. This Dr Taki came highly recommended also. I placed a call to their office but they are out today. I will follow up tomorrow. I pray the nurse does not take offense to my inquiry. If she does than I will be looking for a new doctor. Guest guest
Sharon, Don't feel so bad about not knowing everything! I, too, walked in in blind faith for treatment. We were not asked to sign an informed consent form. We were not informed about side effects like migraines, so when they hit, we thought our dd was dying. She completely collapsed at a boy scout event! What we observed was that the infusion center infused lots of kids, but with all kinds of drugs (chemo, hemoglobin, antibiotics, etc.) We asked discrete and pointed questions about how many kids they gave IVIG to. We determined that they had only one other primary immune deficient patient undergoing treatment and that person was a 40 yo nurse. The other patients that got IVIG were cancer kids who needed a one-time boost! They were totally confused that Rebekah would have reactions to IVIG or need lower infusion rates, etc. So, we learned the hard way that an infusion center doesn't always mean that they are experts. Pam wife to (16 years) mother to , 9, Hannah, 6, Rebekah, 3, and Leah, 1 Good Morning all Good Morning, I know they inufse other patients, some younger than . I know felt pretty bad during and after, but I thought that was normal.
Guest guest
From: Beth, Mom to Wade, 16 (CVID,etc.) Hi Sharon, We use Dr. Taki & he is wonderful!! He has been my son's immunologist for almost 8 years now. In fact, we just saw him yesterday. Call his office & ask to speak with Anne. Tell her Beth Rathburn, Childrey's mom told you to call her directly. She will take care of you. We used to see him in Toledo but now we go to Ft. Wayne to see him because he is there more often & he has his own lab, xray, pft machine, etc. right in his office, which is more convenient. We live near Detroit, so it's about 1 1/2 hours to his Toledo office & 3 to the Ft. Wayne office. It's worth the distance for us. We see him usually once every three months unless there is an acute problem that the ped & Dr. Taki can't solve over the phone, which is rare. Good Luck! Please let me know how things work out for you. I'll keep you, your daughter & your family in my prayers. Guest guest
Yes. He gets infused locally at an outpatient infusion center at a local hospital. If you want to call me (313-824-4137) or page me (313-793-7858), I'll be glad to chat with you & answer any questions that I can. I'm home right now for another hour, then I'm in & out with apointments until about 6:00pm tonight. This is mid-term week, so things are a bit nuts! If you'd rather, you can email me your phone number & I'll call you , or you can call collect if you need to. Take care! I am learning this very quickly. Everyone on this board has given me so many good ideas and great sources of information. I honestly don't know how I would have weathered this storm without this resource. I am in the process of trying to resolve the current situation. After talking to others I have found the problem is not my doctor but possible just the location that she is currently getting the infusions. I am hopeful we will be at his infusion center in Fort Wayne for our next infusion. From what I have been told Dr. Tacki is excellent. I feel so much better knowing this. lauren has been under his general care for two years and we love him. He is so attentive and actually listens to what you are saying. loves him as well. Unfortunately we had a very bad first time infusion experience. This is not how it was supposed to happen. Many other details that I have learned but wont bore you with, but I really feel I am on the right track. At least now I know what is supposed to happen. My blinders have come off!!! Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Sharon
