Hi Lois,

Not really. Due to an early divorce (my dad was abusive), she had to work three jobs to support my sister and I. We were the original latchkey kids, before the term was coined. She never learned how to be a mother. To her credit, she provided for us the best she could (under the circumstances), and finished her Master's degree, by the time I was 16 years old. The kindest thing she did for us, was to send us to our grandparents farm every summer (and extended holidays). Our grandmother taught us how to cook /and bake (everything was by scratch and raised on the farm). She taught us how to sew, quilt, knit, garden, tend animals, ride horses.....you name, we learned it. I am who I am, because of my grandmother.

Sara,

I understand that. My mom and dad had me later in life..If they were both alive they would be 97 and 92. They were just county folk but very loving and kind. I grew up with chickens, rabbits and dogs and I am a very much animal lover. I sure miss them.........i know my mom would have been there for JJ. She was there for my older son and so was my dad. I was lucky to have had them. They made me who I am too. Hang in there. My JJ is 21 now. (((HUGS))) Lois

I was just talking about mine last night :) I lost my Grandma a year ago this last April --- as you know my mom was absent due to mental illness...my grandma, while in tons of denial about my mom....was the love of my life. I've never met a more fun person in my whole life...I had her, as well as a neighbor who saved my life as a young girl...My mom is OK, today, but is still not so functional...she is loving though and for that I'm grateful.....she's just not any help...not because she doesn't want to, but because she's just not emotionally able......I miss my grandma terribly :) She always wanted a brown eyed grandchild...I have blue eyes :) just like her --- her mom who died when she was 12 had brown eyes....Lily my precious 6 yr old...is name after her mom, and

Lily has brown eyes :) My grandma got her wish and was able meet Lily more than once (gram lived far away from us, but we saw her often) --- I'm so grateful she got to meet Lily....I'm rambling.

Anyhow...I'm with you...Grandma's ROCK!!!!!!!!!!! :) You are a wonderful mom, and very giving --- you could makes lots of money with your software and you don't...and it comes from your heart...that's pretty wonderful and giving if you ask me!!!!!!! But you didn't... LOL.

:)

Have a beautiful day,

e

Thanks e:)

Grandmothers are the perfect second line of defense, when the first line mothers are unable to perform for whatever reason. I shutter to think what would have happen to my sister and I if we didn't have my grandmother's guidance.

  • 3 months later...

I hope everyone had a good day. Karac and I did. At SpiritHorse he acted so normal that it brought tears to my eyes. He

had music therapy shortly after I took him home, and it was so neat to see him at the piano with his teacher attempting to play

and enjoying it. It was a day that makes me smile. I prayed for all of you this morning that you would have a good day. Love and blessings, Pat K
