Guest guest
You can have a personal best for each muscle group for each workout and even the smallest improvement counts. It all leads to progress and moves you steadily to your goals. All the best! Kit
Guest guest
Good job Sylvia! When it comes right down to it you can't restart anything. Time waits for no one, so accept your past and know that it is a part of your path to the future. Daily progress will make the present and that future much brighter! Enjoy the journey, it's a great adventure, even the average workouts are way better than no workout! And if you can't workout because of sickness etc. then a little planning for success is still progress. or getting some extra sleep to make the next day stronger is progress. Any step forward is worth taking, because it advances your starting point for the next effort ( another step!) Progress not perfection Champions!!!! Guest guest
Hi BJ! I'm so glad you had a great day. Those are the best. I hope it is the meds working and this will continue. I love when you get to see the fun loving kid. I hope you get to see more of him. And, you got to hug and kiss him! A bonus (at least for me, I barely even try now, he looks at me like I'm an alien full of germs coming to get him, LOL)! Gretchen svdbyhislove <BJClosner@...> wrote: I just wanted to share some good news. . . . I've certainly shared the bad. We increased Josh's meds a week ago, up another 10 mg., and today when he woke up he just sat on his bed with our dog. He sat there for a while and of course I became concerned. Up until today he is up and on the computer playing a game IMMEDIATELY to shut out the OCD thoughts. I tried not to ask if he was okay (it reminds him to be anxious), but finally I couldn't take it anymore so broke down and asked. Turns out he was fine, just tired, taking some time to wake up while sitting and petting our dog. It's been a while since his OCD would let him sit quietly like that. Then he turned to me, cracked a joke and laughed. It's also been a while since I've seen this fun loving kid, who likes to joke and laugh. I gave him a hug and kiss and walked away with tears in my eyes for a good reason for a change. I don't know if we just had a good day or if things are just finally improving. Either way, I'm grateful for a good day. Thank you all for listening and being supportive on the bad days. BJ --------------------------------- No need to miss a message. Guest guest
Thanks for prayers; I was concerned about how I would get through this day with Ayden and Karac and no help, but God as usual met my needs and it was a good day. I decided to take my bathing suit to Karac's and after we took his siblings to camp, I asked him if he would like to return his house and swim instead of going to Grandmothers, and thankfully he said, "yes, swim". so we put on our bathing suits and swam and enjoyed hanging out at the pool while back home Granddaddy took care of Ayden who just ate, slept, and pooped. LOL, LOL. When Karac was ready we went to my house and rode bikes, went for a walk, and ate hamburgers for lunch. After lunch we watched a movie for a while and then he was ready to do academics with me; reading, spelling, writing, coloring, and computer. DIL said she was getting off at 4:00 and I could bring him home early. Thank you God. So at 3:00 I thought, "What can we do now?" The only thing I coud think of was a relaxing bubble bath. Yea, Karac agreed. That did it. He got finished in time to get dressed read his Edmark and GO HOME. Yea, Day over, Only one more day to go before summer school. Yea! Love and blessings, Pat K I have prayed for all of you that your day went well. Dell Days of Deals! June 15-24 - A New Deal Everyday! Guest guest
Don't be embarrassed....LOL, LOL...I think you are an awesome grandmother...there are not many like you!!! Karac is so blessed, as are you by him, I know had a hard afternoon today --- he's a bear when he wakes up from a late nap....a cat kind of nap...he threw a fit for about 20 minutes...I stayed quiet, and told him that he needed a "calm body" --- he finally took a breath and I was able to praise him for his "calmness" --- I asked him for a hug, and he let me hug him, then he quietly asked for "meter rogers" God love him...we had a calm evening after Mr. Rodgers! Pray for me tomorrow...too much to go into now, but we have a very full day --- Thanks, Pat K. e From: "pkuenstler@..." <pkuenstler@...>autism Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 9:02:49 PMSubject: Re: a good day I can't believe you read all that. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I'm not sure what my mom thinks of my parenting. She came over for a visit on Wednesday (left Thursday morning), and as usual played the role of a guest. Love and blessings, Pat K I have prayed for all of you that your day went well. Dell Days of Deals! June 15-24 - A New Deal Everyday! Guest guest
Hi Pat, You're right about not having a clue. I told her I don't have any other option, than to deal with their behaviors. She then suggested I put Mark on a waiting list for a residential home. Mark is only 8 1/2 and that idea freaks me out. I let her have her say, and then changed the subject. She's a very nice person, and goes out of her way to do good things for other people....Just not for us. She just doesn't understand our situation. Sara a good day Thanks for prayers; I was concerned about how I would get through this day with Ayden and Karac and no help, butGod as usual met my needs and it was a good day. I decided to take my bathing suit to Karac's and after we took his siblings to camp, I asked him if he would like to return his house and swim instead of going to Grandmothers, andthankfully he said, "yes, swim". so we put on our bathing suits and swam and enjoyed hanging out at the pool whileback home Granddaddy took care of Ayden who just ate, slept, and pooped. LOL, LOL.When Karac was ready we went to my house and rode bikes, went for a walk, and ate hamburgers for lunch. After lunchwe watched a movie for a while and then he was ready to do academics with me; reading, spelling, writing, coloring, and computer. Guest guest
Hi,Maybe this is her way of coping. By not becoming involved she doesn't have to think about what your family is going thru. I suppose it's better this way than criticizing what you do or undermining all your dietary stuff like some grandparents do. I have heard many say "Oh, it's only a cookie or a cone, it can't possible hurt".Just a thought! She came over for a visit on Wednesday (left Thursday morning), and as usual played the role of a guest. When Mark or would have a meltdown, stim out of control, etc. she would sit there and say, "I don't know how you do it". That's as involved as she gets. Guest guest
I know what you mean, Sara, Every time DIL mentions putting Karac some where it breaks my heart!! In what way would you like your mother to help? Is she capable of it? Re: a good day Hi Pat, You're right about not having a clue. Guest guest
Hi Pat, She's just too insecure to help. On one of her visits (about 2 months ago), I ordered pizzas for dinner. I asked my mom if she could watch Mark, while I took with me to pick up the pizzas. Dominos is a 3 minute drive from my house. I told her I would be back in less than 10 minutes. She freaked out. She said, "What if Mark comes downstairs? What should I do?" She was really shaken by my request. I told her, he would probably stay upstairs (as it's his favorite place to play). I took with me and picked up the pizzas, while my mom 'watched' (stayed in the house) with Mark. Even though he did not come downstairs, she was really stressed out by the favor. I would like her to help, doing minor things like that without anguish and fret. It would be nice to have a traditional grandmother, who willingly spends time with her grandchildren (regardless of their abilities or disabilities). Sara a good day Thanks for prayers; I was concerned about how I would get through this day with Ayden and Karac and no help, butGod as usual met my needs and it was a good day.
