Guest guest
Kim: Reading your post this a.m. We had the same situation. . . up to 200 mg Zoloft and it not working. But since it HAD been working, the Dr. started bring him down (-25 mg every 2 weeks) and at 150, added Abilify, 1 mg. This is such a tiny dosage, that it is l/5th of the smallest pill, so he takes it in liquid form. It tastes nasty, so he gets a cookie as a " chaser " . Abilify is the newest atypical antipsychotic. After 4 days, ds was a new person! He was like he was before we ever had " sticky " problems! I understand weight gain isn't as bad a problem with Abilify, as it is with Risperdol, which is the same type of med. Our ds gained on Zoloft, so if he comes down, maybe that will help. I don't know what the target dosage for the Zoloft is. PS The psychiatrist is the well-known researcher Dr. Tonya at Shands Research Hospital--U of FL. She discovered Pandas. Hope this helps,
