Oh boy, do I know the answer to this one! I use the term " meltdown "

to basically describe a tantrum that my 11 year old daughter gets

into with stuff usually relating to her OCD. Usually involving

screaming, crying, rage outbursts, it's really fun, let me tell

you....

Hi Suzy, by meltdown, most of us mean a toddler-style, kicking, screaming,

irrational and angry response to a seemingly small issue or situation. Our OCD

kids, especially before their OCD is adequately treated, may have a meltdown due

to an intense rush of anxiety when prevented for whatever reason from doing a

compulsion.

Take care,

Hi Suzy,

I have a teen and a meltdown could include door

slamming, cursing, and turning the music up LOUD.

It might also include anything in the path of said

person melting down being in jepardy. Things or

people.

During a meltdown is not a good time to reason or

imposed punishment.....things need to blow over before

rational dialouge resumes. ;)
