I was thinking the same as . I can't imagine being switched tp a brace at 50*. I understand your frustration I would be too. How old is your daughter and where do you go for casting? Hang in there I truly believe casting is the right path for the best correction even in the summer heat ugh! Please keep us posted and vent anytime you need we are here for you.Amy J mom to Allie(4) in 5th cast down to 14* in cast from 56* Greenville Shriners Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Fournier <mattnsteph4nier@...>Sender: infantile scoliosis treatment Date: Mon, 16 Aug 2010 18:01:34 -0700infantile scoliosis treatment <infantile scoliosis treatment >Reply infantile scoliosis treatment Subject: Re: What kind of progress have you seen withserial casting? How frustrated you must be feeling! I am wondering why they go back to a brace under 50...usually as I understand it they wait until curves are down below 10-20 degrees. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. But at 50 degrees with a brace here is not going to be any correction happening at all. Wishing you all the best on this long journey! She started at 77 degree curvature, mostly because her orthopedic wanted to "wait and see." She went through all of 09 in casts with her curve reaching the lowest of 24 degrees. She was in her 40s when she was put in a brace in Jan 10. We stayed in a brace until June 10, where her curve was *unfreaking believable* back to mid 70s. The Dr seemed pleased that we "held" her curve. WTH? So late June she is in cast #10 (or 11, I've lost track), switched again to cast #11 (or #12) and she is back in her 40s. If, when she goes on the 31st, her curve is below 50, back to a brace. If not, another round of casting. My question is this:Has anyone had permanent correction from such a high curvature? I know that, if anything, this casting is keeping her curve from getting worse, but is it really worth it? I am just having a rough time with it this week. It's hard to live in Miami and not be able to do a single thing outside and feel like I am depriving my kid of a normal childhood. *sigh*
