Guest guest
Londynn was 14 months when she got her first cast and returned to daycare. I went the first day - spent a couple of hours teaching them how to diaper and following her around - that is the most challenging thing - as they are so top heavy and unbalanced at first that they fall HARD - she did come home with several bumps - but soon it did get easier for them - now her teacher even babysits in the evenings sometimes - really nice. She now kind of uses her cast to bully her way onto her teachers lap. She will be getting her 3rd cast on Thursday. > > > Â > >With Amaya's first casting soon approaching I am beginning to become both > >nervous and hopeful all at the same time. Guest guest
is in daycare and has not had any problems. I purchased an extra bumkins toddler bib and took it with him to school. He sleeps with a pillow on his cot and they plan water day for the day he is out, Friday. I have asked they call me if he has a poo blow out rather than try to clean it up themselves. I have left work twice in 8 months for this. He does have falls, but they happen at home to. It is the top heavy burden of casts. They do ice and call us. We did a quick tutorial for diapering and they really seemed interested in taking great care of him. Leaving him is hard. We take a week out of school with each new cast. I just want to give him time to adjust before forcing him back to school. The routine is good for him and he does great keeping up with the other kids. Other than his bib and water restrictions he is a regular toddler. The kids don't see any difference. Let us know how the back to school goes! Guest guest
I also have in day care and she does great. Her teachers are wonderful and take care of us. She does not go outside with the other kids when they go out twice a day, they just put her in another class. I had to get a doctors note but only b/c in Alabama all kids are required to go outside. I asked them to make sure she wears a bib anytime she eats, even snacks. I went there the first day after cast and showed all teachers that would deal with her how to change her diaper and wrote out directions just in case. will do great. Guest guest
, I don't know what it's like leaving them at daycare but training family members how to change Nora and such was hard for me. I also get mad when someone refers to Nora's scoliosis as a disability. I don't consider her scoliosis to be a disability by general definition but an ability. Because of Nora's scoliosis she has the ability to be compassionate which is something alot of adults that I've come in contact with haven't learned yet!! I'm sure will do fine in daycare and in a year or so I'll be the one on here worrying about Nora starting elementary school and will need advice. Let us know how things go and God Bless!
