Guest guest
So I saw Heidi's post yesterday about Bexon's dirt encounter and as I was about to reply threw up all over herself! Fortunately she seemed fine after that, no fever or any other symptoms, just a stinky cast...we were forced to remove the undershirt because it got all in the neck and down her tummy. I was so nervous but we managed to remove, wash and put back on without too much difficulty...we also removed the petals that got dirty but there's still an odor on the gauze like stuff that stretches over the outer edge...any suggestions?...We're only three weeks into this first cast... Guest guest
UGH! The very same reason we first changed Bex's T. We had a little odor inside the top back of the cast, too...I just used unscented baby wipes with a touch of Cetaphil or generic version cleanser, and I mixed in a drop of Burt's Bees baby wash. Very little moisture, just to rub the top smelly layer. It seemed to help, and then we were lucky that the smell faded in a few days. Good luck! Guest guest
, My daughter struggles with reflux, so vomiting in the cast is common w/her. We can't totally get rid of the smell, but using a gentle cleanser on the cast like Cetephil or baby wash helps - just make sure to dry thoroughly w/hair dryer. The best thing we did in her 2nd and now 3rd cast is duct-tape all areas of the cast that might get wet (diaper area and chest) and that way nothing smelly leaks through to the cast. mom to Audrey, 2 1/2 3rd cast, SLC > > So I saw Heidi's post yesterday about Bexon's dirt encounter and as I was about to reply threw up all over herself! Guest guest
, In Devyn's first cast we used baby wipes usually the huggies hypo allergenic ones to wipe the cast a little. Make sure not to get it to damp. After that we bought the colored duct tape and taped the top bar of the cast so if he did throw up again it would be easier to clean and would not get in the plaster and padding. Each cast after this we wrapped the top in duct tape as soon as we got home. It seemed to work for us and help with keeping the top of the cast cleaner and smelling better. Best of luck Rochelle mom to Devyn almost 5yrs Infantile Scoliosis (0 Degrees) Chiari 1 > > UGH! The very same reason we first changed Bex's T. Guest guest
do you know if its gauze or stockinette? If its stockinette, you can pull out a bit, wash & dry...if its gauze, you might be able to remove completely?
