Guest guest
Dr. Grim, My new endo wants me to do a Saline Infusion confirmatory test for PA. The question I have, if I am DASHing can it be false negative? Do I need to temporary switch to a normal salt diet? Last year I did an oral salt loading test for 3 days WITHOUT K supplementation and my result was equivocal Aldo=9.5ng/dL versus their cuttoff limit 10 (probably with K repleted Aldo would have been over 10?) and I do not want to waste more time and money for another useless test. Thank you for your advice. tiu
Guest guest
Yes DASHing will affect saline test. Ideally you should do high salt diet for at least 2 weeks before but check with your local team. Maybe they have normals for being on a low sodium diet. Be certain they do a 24 hr urine you bring in the day of the test and also measure how much you pee during the saline infusion itself. Not sure why you need confirmation if doing well on DASH and/or MCBs. CE Grim MD Dr. Grim, My new endo wants me to do a Saline Infusion confirmatory test for PA.
