Guest guest
Hi , You really can do it - when I started my push-up program this January, I struggled to do 10 in a row, now I can easily do double that, maybe even triple. I think I can probably do 30 in one set. For the summer, I'm taking a break from the "schedule" and I have just told myself I have to get a min of 5 sets of 20 in three times per week. Sometimes I do more, like I'll through in a couple of sets of 25. You really CAN do it. And, as an added bonus, your arms will look fabulous, I have gotten more compliments on my arms now from doing push-ups than I ever did from years of Cathe, FIRM, Jari, etc. Take care, Donna From: A. Jen, you can be like me when you grow up if you're comfortable with becoming quite ODD! I'm an odd fish. Guest guest
30 in ONE SET!!!Donna, that is AWESOME!!! I've been quite inspired by your posts about push ups. Pardon my French, but I think that push ups are one of the more badass things that women could do. Pull ups are the other. I'm in awe of any mature woman who can do even one pull up. I tried this about a year ago, but had a bit of a shoulder problem. I think I tried to progress too quickly, and I wasn't training my core at the same time. I think I need to do both at once in order to succeed. Thanks for the inspiration!!!On Thu, Aug 6, 2009 at 4:31 AM, Donna M-P <donna112520@...> wrote: Hi , You really can do it - when I started my push-up program this January, I struggled to do 10 in a row, now I can easily do double that, maybe even triple. Guest guest
Hi !The 100 Push Up Challenge does offer a good progression, but I think as women (w/ less upper body strength than men - and the 100 Push Up Challenge does seem to be geared towards men), we need to be prepared to spend extra time on each workout session - what I did was I planned that I would have to do each "day" of the progression 3X before moving on. Sometimes, I had to do a "day" even more times than that - to give you an idea it took me from January to June to get to Week 4. Then, I just decided to take the summer "off" from the progression. You really need to just move on when you feel ready. Here is a link to the 100 Push Up Challenge: http://hundredpushups.com/ I do agree about the core - push-ups really are a total body exercise and everything - is involved, I have even felt it in my thighs! But, they are efficient, they hit a lot of body parts in a short amount of time! Take care, Donna From: A. Guest guest
Thank you! I just printed out the program. Thanks for the tips. I don't want to hurt my shoulder again, so I think I'll take a similar conservative approach.I also just ordered the door anchor for resistance bands so I can do pull-downs. I'm extremely far away from doing one pull up, but I want to add some pull downs to my routines. I had been shopping around for a door gym, but this was cheaper and more appropriate to my level. Thanks again for the information!OK, time for Lean Circuit 2. Guest guest
, YOU WILL GET THERE! Pushups never get easier per se, but it's easier than you think to add in extra reps. 5 this week, next week you'll be up to 8-10. It's such an achievement to see those numbers go up! Guest guest
Best of luck with the pushups, . Donna is right about pushups. And pushups in general are a lot easier for men, I think. I've never had trouble doing them on my toes and for a long time I never understood why so many women do them with their knees on the floor. It's pretty impressive to see women work up to that level though. Keep up the determination and you'll get there. > > > > From: A. Guest guest
You can do it, !! I'm rooting for you - and it sounds like you well on your way. I called a bit of a truce with push ups this week myself. I'm modifyinig the ones in CLX by having my smith machine bar a few feet off of the ground and doing them with my upper body elevated - like doing them on stairs, kind of. I think I get more out of them that way than with kneelies - plus I hate kneeling. I have no grand goals about them, but I guess I wouldn't mind being able to do the ones in my videos on my toes, heh. You'll get there - well before 50, I bet!
