I never ever thought I would post something about Pregnancy workouts! However, a

few days ago I was talking to my friend Kathy and she mainly goes to the gym to

workout but a few years ago when she was expecting she got Kathy 's and

Jane Fonda's Pregnancy workouts. We happened to be talking and she mention she

still uses them on occasion because the ab exercises are very good and help get

her abs back into shape after she's been slacking a bit. She also said that

since the workouts are done at a slower pace (I'm assuming the recovery workout

/ after baby) that sometimes she does a pregnancy workout if its been a week or

so since a workout. She suggested that I get Kathy's or Jane's or just some

pregnancy videos in general because I mention I was not happy with my abs, and

she said they really do a good job. Now I always thought pregnancy workouts were

for just when one was expecting. Doe's anyone still use Pregnancy videos after

they already had little baby? I looked on youtube at Jane's video and it seems

pretty good. Any thoughts??

Geoff, I'm so happy you asked this question! I've never been pregnant, but have

often wondered if non-pregger people could reap some real benefits from these

kinds of workouts. I did keep a pregancy pilates dvd I got in a " lot " from

Ebay, and hope to one day try it (along with the dozens of other virgin workouts

I have *sigh*)

Please review these workouts if you do them!

I own a couple of pregnancy workouts and see nothing wrong with it :)  However, I am / would be more choosy, and wouldn't try just anything.  I have Laruen pregnancy workout and 's Post Pregnancy workout.

i used Jane's when I was pregnant with my son14 years ago, during and after. They are at a slower pace but I remembered feeling good afterthe workouts. A pregnant body has a center ofgravity that's different but the workouts weregood nonetheless. I'd never thought to use them now but I candefinitely see he appeal for those days youwant to work out without high impact. I'd be very curious about how they work for you!-Terri-On Aug 4, 2009, at 8:54 PM, geoffm727 <geoff.g.madore@...> wrote:

Hmm.. I know there was a post-pregnancy Pilates workout that was pretty tough. Let's see if I can find it:

http://www.amazon.com/Pilates-After-Pregnancy-Duo-pack/dp/B00064NP66/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8 & qid=1249486658 & sr=8-3

It is part of the two-pack, above.

The post-pregnancy one was pretty difficult, as I recall - after pregnancy your abs are very weak/stretched out and I had a lot of trouble doing it! I think I may have traded this one, otherwise, I'd be happy to send it your way.

When I was pregnant I didn't use very many "pregnancy" videos - I mostly just used my regular videos/DVD but modified as needed. I used some yoga DVD/videos b/c I wasn't quite sure how to modify yoga.

For recovery style workouts you may be better off finding lower-intensity workouts to do. I found most pregnancy workouts to be way too easy for me - even when pregnant - it seemed they were made for the sedentary person. Sansone would be a good choice for a recovery workout b/c her workouts are low impact, simple to follow and you can put as much or as little as you want into them.

Oh - the le Reese Pregnancy workout does get good reviews, but I have never done it. And, I have had Crawford's New Dimension workout which is a post-pregnancy workout and that was also pretty good.

Hope that helps! :)

LOL!!! thats funny, geoff! but i do think that your friend is

on to something.

personally i dont normally use pregnancy or post-partum workouts

while not pregnant, HOWEVER, i did recently acquire a couple of

tracy anderson's workouts, and one of them is for post-partum.

i watched some of it and it looks like an easier version of her

normal mat workout. im expecting her mat workout to be hard so

im going to do the post-partum one before trying the full-blown

workout.
