Our new paed had prescribed WellDorm to help Tom sleep (having also accurately diagnosed him with gastritis). Yes, you've guessed it, when you google WellDorm it says clearly " not to be given in cases of inflamed gut or gastritis " . So, he's been taking something for four weeks that's very probably made him feel like S***. And they wonder why so many parents dont bother with the NHS at all. Guest guest Posted August 21, 2009 Report Share Posted August 21, 2009 , God how awful, it's just unbearble to think about.   I had a friend's who's GP gave her daughter some tranquilizers - (not irritable to the gut, they were Valium, I think) and told her to give them solid for three days and that would help to break some of the compulsive cycle of her self-harm. He said it was awful and refused to let me give it to Tom any more (hadn't noticed a reaction either way with Tom). was amazed at this as I think it is very rare to have a bad reaction to it, but Remis did! Thats how long it takes for the 1st innermost layer of skin to move through to the surface and flake off. If the damage is right through all the layers, then as the damaged layers travel to the surface then the problem can get worse before it gets better. But after 30 days it should be of very high quality all the way through the layers and considerable better. This is often the case with things like aloe shampoo - to begin with things feel rough and worse, but after 30 days the whole effect is vastly improved due to the 30 day period having elapsed. And also explains what excema is - this is when skin moves through far too quickly (sometimes in 2-3 days). Skin in the innerlayer is soaked in the blood as it is near blood vessels. If it moves to the surface in 3 days it still contains blood, which is why excema shows up as bloody blisters sometimes. In summary it takes 30 days to heal, and it can get worse before it gets better! I don't know how much it helps them but they certainly don't react badly to it. I think I will have to read it over for everything to sink in properly to my menopausal brain. Judith Bluestone talks about all the sensory problems children can have especially problems and sensitivity with the trigeminal nerve which I believe is facial. I had Trigeminal nerve pain in my twenties and it is absolutely unbearable. May be this could be something to look into. I couldn't tell you what needs to be done for this but maybe a Handle practitioner , cranial osteopath or the paed, neurologist or ENT doctors could investigate if this is a possible cause for Tom's pain and help. I prescribed cow's milk and lots of sitting wrapped up on the sofa watching tv for gentle distraction. Luckily it went after a day or so with that treatment. Bad stress brought it on, but milk and rest (and knowing how to cure it) took it away. Guest guest Posted August 22, 2009 Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 Hi Steph,  I know that Cranial Osteopaths, SOTO trained Chiropractors and holistic dentists are really knowledgeable about the Trigenminal Nerve and treat the body to ensure that the jaws are balanced to lessen or prevent problems with the nerve.  To my knowledge there are only a handful of holistic dentists in the UK, Marina Carew- Cambridge/ Stansted, and Marc Mortiboys, Effingham Junction are the two that I have used and would recommend.. Poor dentistry in my early years has caused a problem for me and between dentist and osteo I no longer get the pains in my face.... I could understand the logic behind it but it made no difference to him. We just tried to use the Speaks4Me software to let him tell us what was wrong but nothing doing (shame as it's a great package that one). He's been melting down since yesterday evening with about a 2 hour gap for sleep. Casualty sent us home " nothing wrong " . Dr Fell is on holiday, paediatrician is on holiday.
