Guest guest
Get thee to GNC (or other similar store) and buy more products. I understand San is a big city, so you should be able to find someplace. Call a taxi to get there if you need to. We only have ourselves to blame for failure... how we react to adversity is the mark of success... when life throws you lemons, make lemonade. If the airline finds your stuff, you can always use it later. But in the meantime, you need to do everything you can to keep on track. Are you actually going to let some part-time baggage handling dweeb who's really only there to get free trips determine your destiny? Failure should not be an option. 99% of the time failure due to someone else causing problems can be prevented. So, prevent it! > Well, here I am in San for the next week. Packed a box and a half of high protein, low carb bars, protein powder, workout clothes, etc., all in an attempt to stay on track as much as possible this week. Would have worked really well if the airline hadn't lost my luggage yesterday. <sigh> So here I sit in my funky underwear, waiting for them to find my luggage in Egypt or wherever it ended up. Can't get through to the baggage claim office, so who knows when I'm going to be able to shower. > > Oh well. > > Tina
Guest guest
I'll need your credit card number and expiration date. I am working on the assumption that you're willing to pay for all of this extra stuff, yes? Not all of us are rolling in the dough, you know. I'm rather offended that you are placing my " failure " on me when the situation is out of my control. I don't have the funds to run down to GNC and pay top dollar to replace everything I need, much less running to the mall and buying new clothes to work out in. Or are you suggesting that I work out in my underwear? Wait, that's just me settling for failure, right? I was just reading on the bodyforlife site a couple days ago about working out while your travelling. I believe it was in the q & a or faq section. Bill talks about even if you have to work out in your room, you can... which lets you work out in your funky underwear Now, as for your luggage..... Squeeky wheel gets the oil, pitch a bitch... go back to the airport if you have to.... call frequently. It worked for me. I was on a trip and they lost my luggage, I HAD to have it the next day because I was flying back out of town and they got it to me. (that was american airlines I believe). If they refuse, pitch a bigger bitch til they at least give you a clothing allowance... some WILL if you get mad enough. I've found a semi-solution to this problem to you in the future (sorry it can't help now). ALWAYS carry on at least a one day's supply of clothes, contact solution, tooth brush, toothpaste, deoderant, and anything else you might need (myoplex for example). This gives you at LEAST a days worth of stuff to work with. Sure you have to carry more but what's a little bit of exercise??? Oh.. and always take at least a couple days worth of underwear.... You can always wear a pair of jeans or a shirt 2 days, but underwear really aren't negotiable. Oh.... I've also figured out that you can rinse out your unmentionalbles and let them dry overnight on the heater/ac if you have to. I travel a lot so I've had to use my own advice on many occassions. Hope this helps you and anyone else here who travels. Lana

I did, wasn't able to actually talk to anyone but left about 5 messages on their machine. They finally called and said my luggage was on its way, and it got here about 10 minutes ago! Finally! >I've found a semi-solution to this problem to you in the future (sorry it >can't help now). But I was taking a puddle jumper from Milwaukee to Chicago for the first leg of the trip, and they only allow one small carry-on, which had to be my laptop. As crappy as it is, I _never_ check my laptop through, I always carry it. I knew it was going to be a long trip with no food (5 hour flight with a tablespoon of peanuts), so I packed a sandwich, sports bottle with Crystal Light, and a protein bar in my purse. Didn't have room for anything else. Oh well, didn't take too horribly long to get my stuff, so I should be okay now. Tina

Guest guest
Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome. I never said our names, Cyndi & Mike. Anyway, we have 'unofficially' started - meaning, this is a practice week. We stocked up on menu items and are eating according to the book's suggestions. Hubby & I are alternating days - today I did the 20 minute treadmill, and he went to the Y for Upper Body. QUESTION: Is it better to use the nautilus machines, or the barbells? Does it matter? I am more comfortable on the machines because I have done those in the past,so just wondering about that. this was our menu today - please offer your input so we know that we are on the right track (or not!) BreaKfast: EggScrambler burrito w/tomatoes, onions on fat free tortilla Snack Vanilla Yogurt smoothie w/ oranges/bananas Lunch: Tuna on whole wheat pita, w/ spinach and tomatoes Snack: 1 cup cottage cheese, carrot sticks Dinner: grilled chicken breast brown rice & veges (stir-fry) Snack: fruit or smoothie Thanks for the input! You had a point with your great suggestions, too. All too often we forget that some of us are under financial restriction (more than others), and of course, Tina was under a great deal of stress, too.
