Hi Rajesh, welcome to CAST! My son does not have congenital scoliosis, but there are other parents on the group who have more info. There is also a congenital scoliosis group. Did you just get an X-ray and diagnosis? Your daughter may benefit from casting, but she may need to have surgery, first. I believe in my very limited knowledge about this that it depends on the bone deformity and individual child. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. What did your doctor say? Hi,

My daughter 2 1/2 yrs old is having scoliosis.

Does anyone know/have info on congenital scoliosis (Around T5 impacted) and curves to the right and then neck bends to the left. (The curve direction is when looking from back.)

If so any help/guidance will be of greatly useful.

Best Regards,Rajesh TR.

Hi Rajesh,

My daughter has congenital scoliosis in the cervical and thoracic areas. Did

the dr. tell you how many degrees the curve was? Congenital Scoliosis by

definition means that the child was born with some type of malformation of the

vertebrae and/or ribs. Many children with congenital scoliosis have

hemivertebrae, which means that a half of the vertebrae did not form. Did they

tell you whether there was a malformation in the vertebrae?

Hi , The Ortho said T5 was affected. (I have asked the details whether it is hemivertebrae) What is the suggested treatment for this? Is there any improvement that can be done. It is having severe posture impact. The doc said the curve is currently at 10 degrees. hi Rajesh,

Do you have a photo of the xray? Has she had an MRI? I forgot how old she is,

how is her posture looking? Many children with congenital scoliosis end up

having surgery if their curve reaches more than 40 or 50 degrees. Usually, x

rays are taken at regular intervals to see if the degree of curvature is getting

higher. Does she have any other abnormalities? Many children with congenital

scoliosis have abnormalities in other organs such as the heart or kidneys, but

not always. Is she being followed by a pediatric orthopedic spine specialist?
