Thank you, thank you, thank you MsMith. I think you saved me this time! I went to look on my Metformin, and I figured out that it's 1000 mg tablets instead of my usual 500 mg. So, I took 4000 mg a day, in addition I didn't eat anything at all. No wonder! And I took them approximately for 2 months. Dr. Grim, is it a plausible reason? I think so!! How stupid of me! What's interesting, that my glucose numbers didn't go one bit down :-) Even worse. I don't know how to explain it - is this brain fog, early Alzheimer or just stupidity, but it's completely my fault. What dosage of Glumetza is equivalent to 2000 mg of

metformin? Many, many thanks. Natalia From: msmith_1928 <janeray1940@...> hyperaldosteronism Sent: Thursday, June 7, 2012 5:55 PM Subject: Re: Side effects of eplerenone???

Natalia, do you take generic metformin? By any chance did your pharmacy switch recently to a different generic?

When I was taking met, I learned that I reacted differently to different generics - some were more likely to cause diarrhea than others. My endo told me that in his experience, the extended-release brand name formulation called Glumetza caused the least intestinal distress; when I switched to that one I had a lot less trouble.

Just a thought...

Natalia, as far as I know I'm the only Diane (Dianne) on this group, so I thought I'd answer. It really sounds like you found your solution. Just to clarify, I have never been on Eplerenone, only Spiro. I did answer someone about diarrhea however. It was only a problem before I quit the worthless BP meds, started Dashing and taking Spiro.By the way, when I had gone to my clueless, and former, PCP about the diarrhea years and years ago, she did suggest taking Metamucil daily. She said it helps whether you have diarrhea or constipation. That was true, although the real solution lay in treating my underlying cause. Not a problem now.Dianne, F-69, bi-lateral adenomas, CKD, 50mg Spiro, 25mg Atenolol, eating low Na and higher K, but not the full 4700 because of kidney damage. My kidney numbers took a hit

after the use of CT contrast dye. Now I walk a fine line between enough K to keep me from all those low K symptoms and not too much to overload the kidney's. No, it was not pharmacy's mistake, it was my doctor's office mistake. I asked them 500 mg, but they called to pharmacy and asked 1000. And, of course, it was my mistake.Unfortunately, and it's VERY, VERY WRONG - both 1000 and 500 have absolutely the same color and the same shape. And maximal dosage of Glumetza is also 2000 mg? I've had pharmacies give me the wrong dosage on prescription refills - maybe they made a mistake. Good thing you checked!

IIRC Glumetza came in a 500mg tab just like generic met.

If you were sweaty and fatigued in am or during night likely you were having a Smogyi Effect (spelling?). Thank you very much. Sure I had Somogyi Effect. I also have Dawn Effect. I tested my sugar at 3 am and 11 am and it's always higher at 11 am. No wonder, it's because I have high cortisol and high catecholamines and often I feel their release about 5 - 6 am. I also noticed that I cannot eat fruit after 6 pm, this increased my morning blood sugar significantly. Natalia From: Clarence Grim <lowerbp2@...> To:
