Guest guest
We could smell the oil on and off. Everyone was very upset about it, but we had not seen each other in 20 years (many of us), so we made sure to make the best of it. My friend''s condo there is a whole floor and the beach was mostly beautiful- we just made it under the wire, I'm sure. My friend who owns the condo has a child with Autism and Downs who is 20 years old, and the experience of loving her daughter has made her without doubt a more beautiful person. She was the most popular girl in my high school, and she glows from the inside, now. I must say that just personally, it was a break from scoliosis for the most part, and my first vacation that was not a trip to Shriners in quite a long time! 5 years? I can't believe I had the guts to go, I was very scared to leave my boys for a few days. I post this just because it taught me that I was a better and happier mom returning, and I learned a lot about the toughness of women who have also gone through some pretty intense things by age 40. Every one of us (7 women) had big life stories or had been touched by tragedy and hardship in different ways. And we are all still standing. And we had FUN! Women are incredible. Very best of luck with Sierra's MRI and 2nd cast!!! I just got back from Louisiana and Gulf Shores, Alabama. It was beautiful, except for some storms/rain/ lightning, and we did sometimes smell the oil encroaching. My friend got oil on her heel from walking in the ocean. It is terrible, and I am so sad for the people and the sealife- it does and will affect all of us.
