We did something similar to that for . I can't remember how old he was, but do remember he was older and could understand how his cast could NOT get wet. He did not have the over the shoulder cast so I would wrap his cast with a hand towel and he would stand and play with his hands in the sink. I also did bubbles and water toys. He LOVED this!!!! It made him feel like he was getting to have fun like his twin brother.

We did do feet sometimes too.

I am SO happy that is able to enjoy a little water while in her cast. You are making it FUN and easier for her.

I just wanted to share our little idea (maybe others already do it, who knows!). This would be for older kids ('s almost 4). When her brothers take their baths, I fill up the bathroom sink with warm water and let sit on the sink-counter and put her feet in. I squirt some soap into it, give her a washcloth and she washes her feet and plays a little. When it's time to wash her up, I just have her stand in the sink and I wash her legs and other parts. Works like a charm! It also seems to pretty much satisfy her "bath envy"!~ : ) ~ 3.5 years old, in 3rd cast ~ 10* Cobb/0* rotation in cast, 35* Cobb/25* rotation pre-cast

When Grace was first casted, I sat with a little bin in the living room to give her a sponge bath so that she wasn't overly tempted by the tub in the bathroom. She asked the first day if she could put her feet in the bin. I let her and she LOVED it. Then we moved to giving spongebaths in the sink in the bathroom. She hated getting her hair washed there, but loved sitting on the edge soaking her feet. By the end, I got VERY daring. I would lean her over the edge of the tub to wash her hair and then I would lay a towel on the edge and set her on it and put her feet in the big tub. I kept one arm/hand on her at ALL times, and her brother would be in the tub too. They would play together. That was her favorite. Now that she has her brace and even though its already been 3 weeks or so, every time I offer her a bath, she'll pull her little

shirt out and look down and go "No more cast mommy? I can have a bath?" like she totally forgot she can have one now, lol.

I think its all about safe creativity. If you find something that works for you and doesn't damage the cast, I say Go for it!

We always give baths in the kitchen sink like that. I make sure I put lots of bubble bath in and he loves it. He hates having his hair washed that way so we get that done first then let him play for a long time.
