Guest guest
Some of you will remember that last November the gastro and surgeon at Addenbrooke's wanted to give H a colostomy because his constipation was so intractable. Since then he has had a bisocodyl suppository every day and this reduced the soiling by over 95% and has resulted in a poo in the toilet almost every day. We then paired the suppository and the bm in the toilet with ice cream. Early this month, on a huch, I invited H to do a poo in the toilet after lunch, with the promise of ice cream afterwards. This worked. He has done a poo every day since 6 July after lunch, rewarded each time with ice cream. He has had no suppositories since 5 July and no prescription or over the counter laxatives. I do make sure, however he drinks between 1/3 and 1/2 pint of prune juice a day. Fingers crossed this works forever! The suppository regime seems to have trained him to go in the toilet and he has overcome his aversion to pooing. Guest guest
Oh Margaret, That is the most amazing story I had tears in my eyes as I read it. I know what an awful thing this has been for you. Well done to you and to Henry. I have everything crossed that it will be OK for him now. Hugest Hugs Caroline xx
