*Dear Colleagues*

* *

In a major attempt to emphasize the importance of research and

evidence-based practical information in advancing all aspects of tennis

performance, the *Journal of Sports Science and Medicine* will publish

a *Special

Issue on Tennis *in early 2013. Tennis is one of the few sports in the

world that requires very high levels of all major components of fitness:

strength, speed, agility, power, or aerobic endurance. Moreover, Tennis is

one of the world’s most popular sports enjoyed by millions of people of all

ages and abilities. In order to help players, coaches seek assistance from

the vast amount of technical coaching information that is available in the

market in the form of books, journals or websites. This special issue of

the *Journal of Sports Science and Medicine* calls on authors to submit

original research and specific reviews that enriches the current

understanding of tennis performance. The scope of the issue will include

(but not limited to) all aspects of applied physiology, performance

indicators, injury risk and applied coaching.
