,I wish you the best of luck with your casting tomorrow. The first is the hardest and it does get easier. You are going in with knowledge of the process and that really helped me out a lot. Each day will get better and better and n will amaze you! I miss the skin but really, it has just become a part of our life and we try not to dwell on it. My daughter is still happy and that's all that counts to me. You will do great! Let us know how it all went as soon as you get a minute! Hi All,

Again, I just want to say how wonderful it is to have all your support! This group is godsent. With that said, I was just looking for support tonight. I am packing our bags for our trip to Delaware (AI DuPont Hospital) tomorrow for my son n (14 month old with 79 degree curve) to get his first cast. I feel like this day came so fast. I am happy to get him started with the casting, but sad at the same time. I will miss touching his soft skin and rubbing his back. I keep telling myself it won't last for long, and to just take one day at a time. My son has other issues with his bones that concern me (to put it simply, some bones are not as ossified as they should be). So I can't help to worry. But I find hope and comfort knowing we are heading in the right direction to help him. I know many of you are well on your road to recovery with your children and reading your stories gives me hope and helps me through each day...

Thanks,

Mommy to n- getting first cast tomorrow

Good luck tomorrow ! You ARE doing a good thing for n. That first day is hard and will seem like it never ends. Prepare yourself and anyone going with you. BUT know that we have all been there and done it. And lived to tell all about it.

It is an emotional day that is for sure! I do not intend to scare you, but only to make you aware and hopefully prepare yourself mentally.

He will do GREAT and so will you!!! Keep us posted and update when you can. Many prayers for you and your family, little n. You are doing the right thing. Hi ,

I apologize in advance for replying soo late. Please make sure the docs

trim the correct windows and are using the correct frame. The windows

will help with comfort, rotation correction, and will reduce risk of chest

wall deformities. 79 is significant and proper windows will really help

with his comfort level and correction.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

Sincerely,

HRH

My name is Amy and my son Tyler also gets casted at AI Dupont Hospital in Wilimington, Delware. Tyler was casted after it was determined that he had a progressing 62 degree curve with a significant rotation. He began casting at Dupont when he was 13 months old (June 2009). Tyler is now on his fifth cast and is expected to move into a brace the end of June, (his last out of cast xray measured 12 degrees and his rotation is completely resolved).

The doctors and the staff at Dupont are amazing and so kind. I hope that you had the same positive expierence that we have had there.

The last time we were at Dupont we meet a young boy who went through the same situtation as our son, he had started with a sixty degree curve and has been cast/brace free for over a year and his spine remains straight.

Please let me know if you have any questions, we live at the Jersey Shore and travel to Dupont every ten weeks, we may eventually run into each other.

Lots of luck to you and your son!! My personal email in case you have any questions is alm2909@...

Thanks for sharing your families experience at Dupont. ISOP is trying to

find an effective way to keep track of who is doing ET properly, so this

is good info to be aware of...Thank you.

Thank you all for the well wishes! Turns out, n didn't get his cast on

today. Last night he came down with a stomach bug, so we need to reschedule...

I hope we get in soon! On the bright side, we are home now and he is napping

and seems to be better.

Hi ,

I would love to talk to you one on one. We are also waiting to have our

daughter put into her first cast. I read your post and can relate 100% to what

you are saying about being able to touch your baby, etc.. I do agree that we

are both heading in the right direction by casting. Only time will tell.

I hope that n gets well soon so that he can be on his way!

Best of luck to you both.
