Guest guest
Hi , I can't speak to your question but your mention of the meds you are on immediately raised a red flag. Before my tumor was diagnosed, my clueless former internist had me on Diovan. Long story short, I changed doctors and was taken off the Diovan for aldo/renin testing and guess what - my BP actually DROPPED when I stopped the meds. Diovan caused a paradoxical reaction in me and actually raised my heart rate and BP rather than lowering it. If Dr. Grim hasn't pointed it out already, I'm sure he will soon, but the meds you are on do not work if you actually have PA. I don't recall your whole story so there may be other factors, but if you're dealing with low K and high BP then these meds may not be the best treatment. -msmith1928 Left laparoscopic adrenalectomy 10/13/11 > > I started officially DASHing today and I had only 950mg of Na for the day. yeah me! Guest guest
Well. My BP is steadily creeping up the last few days and I am getting pretty frustrated again. This is the point in the past years that I stick my head in the sand b/c no one can keep my BP low and stabilized with no side effects. I assume it is still controlled. We will see how in progresses in the next week or 2.Thank you for the tip on the Diovan . My internist put me on that and the endo added the bylistic b/c it was still really high. 180/113. Honestly if my pressure with meds and can stay at 150/95 I consider it a job well done. Told you I get frustrated ;)Right now my pulse is a sleepy 36! That's typical for some of these BP meds for me.Sent via DroidX2 on Verizon Wireless™
Guest guest
Most everything is quite possibly connected directly or indirectly to the sodium intake - the swelling, the water retention, the HTN, the loss of K, ETC From: catherinekerth1 <catherinekerth@...>Subject: Na, meds, swelling.hyperaldosteronism Date: Sunday, May 27, 2012, 7:44 PM I started officially DASHing today and I had only 950mg of Na for the day. yeah me! Guest guest
ACE inhibitors can do that to as can BB's (bystolic) - cause swelling that is. It is not common with Diovan and it's class. But your most likely culprit is the sodium intake which for you today was great!! keep it up!!! Remember, while the 2 meds your on aren't really for PA, they may have helped lower the BP some, but do nothing to negate the salt intake - and sodium IS the leading culprit for making us retain water. You're not on the Diovan HCT are you? From: catherinekerth1 <catherinekerth@...>Subject: Na, meds, swelling.hyperaldosteronism Date: Sunday, May 27, 2012, 7:44 PM I started officially DASHing today and I had only 950mg of Na for the day. yeah me!
