1500 mg Na 4700 mg K a day or about 70 mM and 110 mM per day.On May 13, 2012, at 11:40 AM, maggiekat7 wrote: Dr. Grim, What are good urine sodium levels if one is dashing well?

I think Maggie was asking urine aka excretion K daily rate (that wa0s the K/Na

intake)

If I remember right Dr. Grim was advocating twice as much K excretion in urine

than Na

to show a good DASH (so I got schooled here that K an Na in urine is a measure

of the daily intake so as long as the K is twice the Na means you have an

adequate intake for DASH and the real number is not that important)

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You Ned both a low sodium intake and a high K intake to get the max benefit of DASH. YOUcan antagonize some of the effects of high salt diet by taking high K. But max benefit requires both low Na and high K. May your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertensionOn May 13, 2012, at 16:03, lvasiliu@... wrote:

Dr. Grim,

What is a good sodium excretion range results from a 24 hour urine test if one

is Dashing well? In other words, if one is Dashing, and then one gets their

sodium excretion numbers from a 24 hour urine test, what number range indicates

that they are doing a good job? Is it just within the standard range of normal?

Or are the Dash guidlines more stringent for sodium excretion? If they are,

what numbers for sodium excretion on a 24 hour urine test would you look for to

tell you I am doing a good job Dashing?

Thank you.

Normal is in fact high for humans. Goal is 1500 mg Na 70 mM and 4700 mg KMay your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertensionOn May 16, 2012, at 12:46, maggiekat7 <ljurkovic@...> wrote:
