I had years and years of mouth sores.  My cupboards were full of mouth sore medicine.  Sublingual B-12 helped a bit.  A few months after I initially got sick, I developed periodontal disease and took Periostat (20 mg doxycycline) for years.  Now on Lyme treatment, my periodontal pockets are nil and I haven't had a mouth sore in over a year. BTW, if anyone is eplerenone, Biaxin is contraindicated as it can affect how epler acts.  My doc had me stop it.  I'll have to check for a few more days but I'm afraid my BP is rising.  Somehow, the Biaxin was enhancing eplerenone.   Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of StaceyFIt is all speculation but I started having this burning tongue (tip), inside cheeks, my lips and also lips were numb inside(like dental work when it is starting to get the feeling back) and fissures on my tongue. That was April last year. I researched it and thought burning mouth syndrome sounded like me. Myouth is dry on the front but very wet in the back. I get lesions on my tongue, and cheeks but last 2 days. Not often but the pain and dryness is always there. Now my gums are deteriorating on the bottom because of the damage of dryness. Nothing helps. Tried biotene, all of it. Started taking alpha lipoic acid and klonopin as they are to help BMS. It got a bit less burning. Oral surgeon has no clue, dentist no clue, doc gave me manic mouth wash which put my mouth on fire. This hematologist said it may be herpes and with the low immunity it is surfacing. Went on acyclovir for a week and it improved the numbness and pain. 4 days after last dose, all came back. He said maybe u will need it as needed but did not give me a script. I am pretty broke right now to take matters into my hand regarding the lyme possibility and I told you my doc won't pursue that angle though she says she believes it happens (lyme long-term) but when I can I plan on following up on the lyme angle since we know I had the tics on me and the classic rash - and a few days of doxy. How the heck did you take it that long? My daughter has for acne okay, but for me even the low dose made me so nauseated -and very few meds affect me adversely, but doxy sure did.

I recently started the sublingal B12. I will let you know if I see a difference. Glad you told me that. Glossitis is a pretty common B12 deficiency symptom (maybe the most common from my experience with others.

B12 is funny......I always use a B12 example when talking about things people SWEAR help them, yet science and medicine says it doesn't - at least not the way people claim. I had so many little old ladies come in for their B12 shots every month and they swore it made them feel better. Who was I to doubt them ( iI didn't doubt them BTW). The other one is weather changes and arthritis. Patients, young and old, swear they know when the humidity changes and a storm is coming by their "trick" knee, and yet science and research says this isn't a real thing. It's real.

And the opposite is that most docs in studies claim they KNOW when it's strep, and good scientific studies say they "may" know 50% of the time - which we all know is as good as chance when the answer is a yes or no. Cracks me up. Now being the genius I am...shut up....my kids and wife DO have some kind of strep smell to them. I can't tell if I have it, but I am always right when they get that smell. It's some strange almost fruity odor their skin gives off. Uhmm....go figure....

right. We just pee out any excess. Thats why I always wndered why some argue with the patients if they want to try it. Its pretty benign in the grand scheme of things.

20 mg of doxy is not very much and I didn't feel it.  It did stop the periodontal progression but didn't improve it.  A normal dose is 100 mg x 3/d.  My doc just switched me to doxy from Biaxin because of the newly-emerged Biaxin-eplerenone contraindication.   I was on doxy early and it didn't help but it might now. Lyme is not inexpensive to treat, primarily because the powers (government, insurance companies, IDSA) say it doesn't exist.  Even if you have the tick, the bulls eye rash and the illness, Lyme doesn't exist.  It doesn't exist even if you never got a day of treatment. /sarcasm  You have to find a specialist outside of the mainstream. The sublingual B-12 dose is 5000 mcg.  I buy " Now " brand which cheap.
