Guest guest
, Yeah I found it very useful too. It helped me greatly to understand weightlifting technique, the resource that taught me best about technique. The version I have is Charniga translation, not the original. How's the weather in Buffalo ATM BTW? Has the lake effect stuff started yet? I've read Bud's translations of the Russian training texts and they are near impossible to read, due to the translation being verbatim. Artie's book OTOH, is a wonderful amalgamation of different coaching systems and techniques and he breaks everything down to the basic elements. There's nothing that Artie leaves out--and in fact, his book is a must read for any coach in any sport. The section on programming is excellent and applies to weightlifting as well as any sport. And some trivia for the non-OLifting crowd. Artie held the world record for the military press and was the last US World Record Holder in Olympic Weightlifting. Myles B. Guest guest
Hi Miles, Artie's book is another super resource. You're right he really did his homework, and has walked the walk. From discussions with Bud, I know he strives to translate Russian literature as authentically as possible. It can make for some challenging reading, given the nuances of both languages. I think he feels a duty to preserve the author's original content and not risk losing anything by wordsmithing it to make it more readable. I respect his reasons for doing that - but struggled to grasp a lot of that info at first.
