Guest guest
Hello all, my son has intercellular zinc deficiency and have been supplementing with 15mg of zinc picolinate before bed. We have had the most hyper behaviour at bedtime that we have seen for a long time and I just attributed it to the light evenings and not wanting to go to sleep. Looking back in the diary though it does seem to link to when I began the zinc. Has anyone else seen this? I was recommended to give an extra dose in the morning too ? Thank you Belinda
Guest guest
Hello Belinda, i dont know if im helpful here, im using zinc sulfate (cream) 44 mg at bedtime,i catually had this problem the first 2 weeks, or some days he is ok , and some days he just rolls around for an hour or 2, but it seems to be levelling now, and he goes to bed without a fuss.I to think its so light and have a blackout, and i have to start the bedtime ritual almost 5 45 as it takes me ages to put him in bed by 7....How long have you been doing it? i started just a month ago,,,so im trying to just wait and see sort of thing,,,,,and i was warned about my little one becoming a bit hyper....maybe play with the dose and see? or twice aday could help...o maybe some hiperactivity wears off during the day? good luck x Maripi Autism Treatment From: belindanunn@...Date: Wed, 15 Jul 2009 19:27:50 +0000Subject: Zinc? Guest guest
Belinda, zinc on an empty stomach can sometimes make you feel a bit nauseous, maybe this is why your son is acting up? Try giving it with food to see if it makes a difference Nikki In Autism Treatment , " belindanunn21 " <belindanunn@...> wrote: > > Hello all, my son has intercellular zinc deficiency and have been supplementing with 15mg of zinc picolinate before bed. Guest guest
Hi Belinda Just a thought: Amy Yasko warns against giving too much zinc as it can cause glutamate release: http://www.holistichealth.com/healthnotes/supplements/view/zinc 15mg doesn't sound like too much at all but hyperactivity and high glutamate do go together so it may be worth looking into GABA/glutamate balancing supps and make sure there's no glutamate in any of the other supps/diet? On the other hand, if it is simply a problem with the picolinate form, another option to consider trying is E-Lyte liquid minerals (zinc sulphate). Best wishes Tim > > Hello all, my son has intercellular zinc deficiency and have been supplementing with 15mg of zinc picolinate before bed.
