Guest guest
Ah ha.......I am also constantly finding out stuff on the computer to help my son, so I am not alone....you are still doing it after so many years!! I am glad you finally get a chance to be a 'normal mom'....that gives me hope, real hope!! You know, I think it is great team work, without you, your son will not be doing so well today and of course, without his cooperation, you will not be as proud too! About Flex-school, is this on your son's statement and how did you find your way in? Is it LA funded? How do you get Part2 of the statement RDI-fied? so Part 3 can address those needs on Part 2? Thanks, candice > >>>> > >>>>> Hi all, > >>>>> > >>>>> I am currently looking into RDI(Relationship Development > >>>>> Intervention) for my son and it is a little blurred at the moment. > >>>>> However, the readings do make a lot sense to me and it is working > >>>>> (!!) after trying out 2 activities. > >>>>> > >>>>> May I know who is also using RDI? Guest guest
Hi You need to get 'rigid thinking' and 'difficulty coping with change' and 'problems with social understanding' in part 2 under 'need' where your child's difficulties are described. Some or all of that should be easy enough to get in as it is just describing autism - there should be no disagreement about it. If there is, you would need to get whoever is disagreeing to give you evidence that your child doesnt have problems with those things. If you get that in part 2, then you can stipulate RDI as provision to meet need in part 3 - unlikely that the LEA wil agree this and you will have to go to tribunal to resolve it. We are the only family I know of who have successfully won a tribunal for RDI - and that was under special circumstances as part of a transition programme just lasting one year to get Philip back to school. The year has run out and we are now back in tribunal fighting to get RDI re-instated in part 3 of Philip's statement. Am speaking to our barrister about it tomorrow - one thing I am sure of is that it will be a very tough case to fight, as we want full time school plus RDI and there is no precedent for full time school plus home programme. Guest guest
Thanks Zoe, your input is very very helpful!! All the best to the re-instatement of RDI in your Part 3, hope the LA has come to the realisation that RDI works and make common and logical sense to them. Do you want your son to go FT mainstream and RDI at home? Or applying RDI FT in mainstream school? > > > >>>> > > > >>>>> Hi all, > > > >>>>> > > > >>>>> I am currently looking into RDI(Relationship Development > > > >>>>> Intervention) for my son and it is a little blurred at the moment. > > > >>>>> However, the readings do make a lot sense to me and it is working > > > >>>>> (!!) after trying out 2 activities. > > > >>>>> > > > >>>>> May I know who is also using RDI? Guest guest
Hi Re 'Do you want your son to go FT mainstream and RDI at home? Or applying RDI FT in mainstream school?' both - he is in FT mainstream (independent) school now and we want LEA to pay for home prog of RDI plus some RDI training for the staff at his school we are working on developing a school that uses an RDI-based curriculum so that he will transfer to this school in 2 years time....when he goes to our school it will be full time RDI at school as well as at home so - make do and mend for now and work towards the full hit in 2 years time (no doubt another tribunal on the horizon to get this......)
