I have had exactly the same symptoms before DASHing.

This is VERY LIKELY due to low K. All my doctors told me my K was normal

although my calves muscle were spasming and felt my leg muscle were paralyzed

sometimes (BTW, my incorrectly drawn blood K was never 3.7).

Before your start DASHing " as your life depends on it " (like Dr. Grim says)

avoid strenuous exercise and start drinking low-sodium V8 for more potassium

(OTC K are also somehow useful). You will likely need about 4700mg of K/day if

you feel that bad.

It will take couple of days to replenish your body with potassium but keep in

mind that eating salt will throw K out of your body so if you eat salty foods

you will pee more K out of your body (the more salt you eat the more K goes out

in PA).

So eat below 1500mg on NaCl/day and more K rich foods together with some V8 cans

and you will get better in 2-3 days.

PS. My doctors also tested me for a zillion other diseases, you name it, yet not

ONE doctor recommended DASH. BTW, most likely you will have some mild anemia

with low RBCs concentrations due to water retention and blood volume expansion

because of high aldo.

pressure since 28 yrs old (41 now), presented with low K couple months back. Now

have severe muscle weakness. Endo ran aldosterone blood test and said it's

elevated. Suspects adrenal tumors. Just turned in 24 hour urine test today to

rule out pheocromocytoma. CT scan scheduled for Monday morning. I have been

having numbness in my head, face, hands, and feet progressively worse for 3

days. Numbness is constant. More on left side but some on right too. Saw endo

this morning. He was puzzled. He said it's not related to low K. Testing for

pernicious anemia.

oar likely loq K and alkalosis (high bicard).Trust they aldo dis aldo, Na, K, creatinine and cortisol on that urine. But it is always fun to collect more.Did you see my test ecommendation in our welcome? Have you read the Evolution of PA article in our files and would take to your Endo so all will become clear.I am available to work one on one with you and your team to get you back to health faster. $500 gets one on one with me for 1 year by phone, email , Skype.Send me email and I will send CV for you and team.CE Grim MDOn May 10, 2012, at 11:56 AM, amysfa wrote: I am in the process of getting test results back. If one has high bicard Does it always show in blood test or is it better to test

urine?

Are you saying they can mess up CO2 blood test? How should this test be done?

Thank you lvasiliu....very informative. I have been diagnosed with low iron as

well...scary how everything is related. I will take your advice on the low

sodium V8 and look into DASH. Definitely don't like this weak, dizzy, numb

feeling.

Do you struggle with weakness? Just curious. Also, did you have episodic pain

in your left side? I've had a few episodes and wonder if it's a sign of tumors.

CT scan Monday so I'll let you know...

Yes, pretty much everybody here complained about weakness, numbness, dizziness,

brain fog etc.

I do have pain on my left, next to the heart but that too I believe it is

related to temporary electrolyte imbalance (low K) which also affects the heart.

The left pain correlates very well with PA flaring up (after eating out too much

salt for me).

PA and adrenal tumors gives all sorts of pains but like Dr. Grim said not

known/studied correlation with the tumor side (unless is very big but that's

most likely a pheo).

For the last 7 years I have participated in a study of one regarding pain

relationship to a PA tumor! My pain is in the right flank area and radiates to

my right testis. I have an adenom in my right adrenal that is functioning.

When I had all PA SX under control with Spironolctone the pain went away (in

fact I could tell when I was starting to out salt spiro when the pain started to

return!) Now that I have been off spiro for 4+ months the pain is back! The

next phase of this test will start Monday when the Eplerenone is scheduled to

arrive! This is an ongoing test so you will have to draw your own conclusions!

I too wonder if there's a relationship between the side of the pain, and the

side the tumor is on. My tumor was on my left adrenal, and when my potassium got

low (which was all the time, pretty much) my left trapezius muscle went into

spasm. Never my right. Now that the tumor is gone, so is the pain.

My tumor is on my left side but pain is always on right side.

No DX. but if we are looking at tumor is cause of pain then why would not being

dx matter?

I contend it is not the tumor that causes the pain but the excess aldostrone.

(When the I was on Spiro and the pain was gone I still had the tumor!) In fact

I even wrote two doctors at the VA with this theory and they didn't dispute it.
