Guest guest
We just got back from getting our 2nd Cast - Purple this time instead of Pink. Londynn did well - but I think she has learned that this is a place that they do stuff to her - that she doesn't necessarily like - she was much crankier this time than last. Removing the cast was non eventful - she even laughed thru most of it. She had some purple discoloration (coloration) of her skin in the shape of the opening of the cast on her belly side. They don't normally see this apparently - Dr D took pictures for reference. It looks like a bruise but it is not because when you stretch the skin it is not purple below the surface. Has anyone else had this? Her skin was much drier than we expected - but no breakdown - we got an " A " for cast and skin care - Yeah! One of her ribs seemed to protrude more after the casting but we were not sure if we just thought that or if it was there before. We chose not to use Versed this time and it really seemed to make a difference - she was not so out of control and crying after being casted. Definitely the way we will do it from now on. Our only glitch was during her casting her CO2 levels were too high so the anesthesiologist had to hurry them along (did not end up being anything to worrisome - but she did have to stay in recovery a little longer). We got our second " Diva " cast as we call it. One shouldered. It takes away a little bit of the linebacker look but not much. We are so excited about our numbers in this 2nd cast - she is down to 11-12 degrees from 36 - the doctors plans are for us to return in 10 weeks for our next and final cast at which time they will also mold her for a brace. She will wear the next cast for 2 months then go into the brace for a year (one brace change during that years time) We are ecstatic about this news. EDF ET is certainly working for us. Thank you ISOP for showing us the way. Note: Heidi if you were thinking of yellow for Bex this cast - they don't have it.
