Guest guest
Be sure to wash the shirts in a mild detergent. I buy the ALL with no fragrance and no dyes. It will keep the skin from getting more irritated then it already will be from the brace. Just a tip.Or you can use Dreft but I thought it was too expensive. The ALL was only $4. I hope they still fit once I wash them but I figure if they don't someone on the group will be able to use them. I just called 1-800-262-2235 and pressed 1 to talk to the woman at customer service. She was really helpful. You want to order a double Axilla shirt meaning that the brace comes up high under both arms (at least that is what she told me. SHe was very very helpful. Jenn Mommy to Cole, 2.5 years old, 1st brace from Rochester, 2 degrees laying down out of brace, down from 47, after 10 months and 5 casts.>> Ok so Cole just got his 1st brace yesterday. We got 1 shirt with out brace, and then they said they would order us more but just needed to see if our insurance would cover them first and our insurance would take until next week to say yes or no. Does insurance realize that in the meantime my kid need shirts?!?! I shouldn't complain too much because they have never complained about covering any of the casting thus far. Anyways, I started to look online to find a good alternative to buying through our doctor which is $40 a shirt and I found a couple of things I wanted to share with everyone.> > 1) boston brace company sells a coolmax/lycra tank top style shirt that is antimicrobial. It looks like it is probably similar to the brace shirts the doctors give out. They are $25 a piece. The smalls are a circumference of 16-24 inches. Cole wears a 3T shirt and is measuring about 20" around the chest so I think that should fit our kids. I have to call to double check. You should be able to just buy these with no prescription from what I read somewhere else, again I need to call and confirm this. http://www.bostonbrace.com/Content/Accessories.asp> > 2) Some people also suggest that for someone not afraid of a sewing machine that you can buy cotton stockinette and make your own brace shirts. Here is the directions on how to do that http://www.aboutkidshealth.ca/HealthAZ/Undershirts-for-Spinal-Orthoses.aspx?articleID=13870 & categoryID=AZ3g and here is a website that carries the cotton stockinette http://www.comfortoandp.com/fabrication_products/cotton_stockinette.html > > It appears the stockennette comes in 25 yard rolls and isn't too expensive from what it looks like. Guest guest
, Would she wear a cooling vest? If so, I can ask the seamstresses to make her size. Just let me know.
