I've been following these email threads for awhile now to see if anyone else has

similar symptoms...but I'm at a loss. My story is a little convoluded so I'm

sorry if I lose some of you but I'm praying someone can help. I have not been

diagnosed with anything yet but my labs seem to indicate that SOMETHING is going

on...so let me start at the beginning. I am a 36 year old woman with a

significant family history of HTN. 4 years ago started HTCZ but didn't stay on

it because I thought I could fix myself with diet and exercise. Needless to say

my bp never went down despite my valiant efforts and so my pcp started me on

lisinopril. That did nothing so she added a beta blocker. In the meantime I

broke out in hives and had angioedema of the lips was in the icu for 3 days

where the docs still could not get my BP down with ccb. Discharged from

hospital with allergies to ACE inhibitors and beta blockers and a follow up with

a nephrologist. Since then I am still getting hives and have dermatagraphism.

Med wise I am on 25 htcz and hydrolazine 25 tid with BP still running

140/90-100. Not to mention every antihistamine available ...as prescribed by my

allergist. Here are my lab results: 3/20/12 renin. 6.08 not sure of

parameters. Aldosterone 94.3 normal 0-30. On 3/27 urine aldo 15.20 with a

range of 0- 19 (on a normal sodium diet). On 4/3 renin 7.45 aldo 24--same range

as previous. On 4/12 urine aldo 42 normal 0-19. My potassium always runs

low...doc says its from the diuretic. Nephrologist just ordered ANOTHER 24

hour urine-- this time with oral salt loading. I need some advice...please.

Should I seek another doc?
