Guest guest
I think something over an extended period has a better chance of " bedding down " and giving parents confidence. I am interested because I don't hink my relationship with H is as good as it could be and it needs support and encouragement as well as ideas and things to do. Guest guest
I just replied to an earlier message before I saw this one. It would be pretty onerous. I wondered how much (if any) Henry would be needed to participate - I find theoretical stuff less useful than things tailored to me and Henry. If I had to bring Henry I would also have to bring a carer, as I don't have the energy to manage him any more. Would the course be expensive? Guest guest
Hi M We are probably looking at 2 hours per week for 10 weeks - not sure whether day or evening, depends on parents OR a 2 day intensive (full days) over a weekend both without child/ren - am afraid we dont have the resources to fund a creche it is possible that the 2 day could have an evening follow up after, say, 3 months. the 10 week would be more expensive due to 10 x venue hire costs as opposed to 2 x venue hire. Bright Futures is looking to subsedise any course, but this would be dependent on the charity securing the funding. I cant be more definite at the mo as we are just at the exploratory stage. Guest guest
Zoe would it be possible to run the two day and then assess and see who many could take you up on the ten week? I might have questions after implementing the two day. I think both are equally valid but understand not everyone can get child care etc. Eileen > > The charity Bright Futures is looking to organise a short course that introduces parents to some of the concepts used in RDI, with practical tips on how to implement the concepts, which could include: > > - a different way of thinking about autism and what this means for your interactions with your child and as a family > - changing your communication style > - slowing life down > - how to guide your child using the 'guided participation relationship' > > It is anticipated that it will be much more practice than theory based - in response to some of the feedback that we had at the London 'Introduction to RDI' workshop in Euston. > > We are just trying to judge how parents would like this delivered. Guest guest
Hi Zoe, Would this course be open to my parents? They are obviously in a different position from your target audience but I would absolutely love them to be able to attend. (They help out a lot with Tom when as my husband works away and are really in need of some RDI training/ info/ advice). If they were able to go, they would prefer the 2 day intensive. Guest guest
Hi Eileen What local authority are you in? Are you interested in a London venue for the course? It would be useful if you could give me an idea of how many others you think might be interested and from what areas Cheers Zoe > > > > The charity Bright Futures is looking to organise a short course that introduces parents to some of the concepts used in RDI, with practical tips on how to implement the concepts, which could include: > > > > - a different way of thinking about autism and what this means for your interactions with your child and as a family > > - changing your communication style > > - slowing life down > > - how to guide your child using the 'guided participation relationship' > > > > It is anticipated that it will be much more practice than theory based - in response to some of the feedback that we had at the London 'Introduction to RDI' workshop in Euston. > > > > We are just trying to judge how parents would like this delivered.
