Guest guest
My 6 yrs old NT (but terribly moody) boy has a build up of white and dirty looking plaque( I think it is plaque) at the top of his teeth. Neither his older brother nor little sister have similar. He does brush his teeth himself in the morning, but I do them at night. It does not matter how thorough we are, we cannot shift it. I mentioned it to dentist who just said to brush 3 times a day. I am considering going to a private dentist elsewhere just to get the teeth cleaned so we have a fresh start, because my son gets worked up about the fact that we are so unsuccesful at shifting it. I have been wondering about why it is just him that suffers this way. I wondered whether it was to do with the PH of his saliva ( just guessing, no idea what I am talking about). Also wondered if it may be linked to intolerance to phenols (perhaps affecting ph of saliva?), as he has the dark circles under his eyes, and we have considered starting him on no-fenol. He is also a child who produces copious amounts of orange wax in his ears, again unlike his ASD brother or NT sister. I don't really understand the bio-chemistry of it all, but wondered if those of you who had kids with phenol problems, or maybe kids you considered to have acid stomachs, if any of you saw similar probs with your kids teeth? Thanks Sue
