I can't seem to access the full study online without having to pay. I did find an excerpt though...

Regression of Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis by E. Stehbens and L. .

Children should avoid repetitive jumping up and down movements, weight lifting, and any vibrational exposure (tractors, bumpy roads, horse riding, pogo sticks, trampolines) which are detrimental and cumulatively aggravate scoliosis. They are akin to impact loading the vertebrae and disks vertically and asymmetrical

Traction is the only way abnormal spinal curvatures (with rotation and whether single or double) can be corrected. A jungle gym (monkey bars) is highly recommended because the swinging motion applies the stresses equally to both sides of the body, the weight of the lower body providing the mineral density.

Of course if anyone has questions - they should be directed to their doctor.

And if anyone can figure out how to access the full article - let me know as I'd be interested to read it again now that my son is closer to Juvenile Scoliosis cases instead of Infantile.

Congrats on getting into SLC. I would definitely confirm trampoline use with Kierans doc. Trampoline bouncing might not be best at this point, just because of gravity effect. My daughter also goes to SLC and when I asked that same question, I was told to avoid the trampoline…As we know, all children are different……Its best to confirm with doc…Let us know what ya’ find out.

My son Kieran is getting his first cast on April 22 in SLC. We're very excited and apprehensive as I have waited since he was born to finally find the direction needed to get him proper help. I wish I could have done it faster, but we had lots of false starts. Anyways, his curve is now in the mid-70s or slightly higher. He will be 20.5 months when he gets his first cast. We have high hopes. I am also wondering about his trampoline use. Anyone have any experience with this? He just wants to bounce so much! Should I be concerned about him being on one or the amount of time he spends? It seems safer than every piece of furniture and every step in our house. He does walk just fine too, so it's not a thing where he just hops all the time. I'd ask the doctor but I am due with my 3rd baby at about the same time. I will ask my husband to ask Dr D'Astous when he sees him, and I am sure I am inquire by phone, but I was wondering what other's experiences with a desire to bounce might be.Shauna, mother of Kelsey, 3.5 yrs, Kieran 20 mnths 75+ degrees, 1st cast April 22, and Baby , born later this month.

Thanks! This is very useful! We'll keep looking into what level if any

trampoline use he can handle, and whether it's a matter of high curvature etc.

I was thinking that once he is a bit older we will be taking up rock climbing at

the local club for the reason mentioned thin this part of the article.
