Guest guest
I would definitely try to find out from the original orthpedic surgeon if screws were put and what type. MRI is a large magnet and iron based objects will be pulled out. However it is possible that if screws were used they are non ferrous screws (titanium). At any rate you should notify the radiologist prior to undergoing the MRI. The op used the hamstring tendon and I am pretty sure the screws were not biodegradable. If it is not safe are there some other scans or other diagnostic methods that would be suitable? If it makes any difference I hurt my knee by shifting my weight over my right knee in the direction of medial to lateral. I then collapsed to the ground and heard 2 popping sounds but from some tests (drawer I think) don't think I have injured my ACL this time. I can't fully extend my leg yet but am gaining increased ROM every day. I feel the most pain around where I think my medial ligament is. thanx, Teri Pokere Brisbane. Guest guest
After replying to your post several minutes ago, it bothered me that you are asking that question of this forum when you should have asked the question of the physician who ordered the MRI in the first place. It is possible that he/she already knows about your previous surgery or at least should know about it.
